I get such a kick outta' seeing the hats you guys - and gal - buy. It's just damn good fun to view all your pictures and read about the details. Next best thing to coming home to a box waiting for ME. Keep those posts coming, people! :eusa_clap
Not really, in my case. While I appreciate the skills of custom hatters today, I just don't get a charge out of modern hats. I consider them to be reproductions of the real things from the '30s and '40s. If I were a millionaire, I'd go about obtaining my old fedoras just the same way I have...
Rumblefish AND Bob - you guys both got great Whippets in a wonderful color. I don't have one like that but I still know just how you feel and I'm glad for you. :eusa_clap
HellifIknow. It seems that the easier it gets to produce merchandise the harder it becomes to find quality. Ironic. In the era of your samples, people really had to put forth grand effort to achieve great results - and they did, without seemingly batting an eye. [huh]
Well, you know - the poor guy doesn't know how to dress himself. No sense of style whatever, but we put up with him in hopes he'll catch on one of these days... ;) :D
Hmmmm,... that's certainly something to consider. I have slightly stretched a lot of hats but I don't think I've done it to an unreeded sweatband set-up.
FYI - When I do stretch a hat, I apply Lexol, as Spatz mentioned, but I also do two other things: I wet the ribbon all around the hat...
Thanks, guys. I love this hat this way. No regrets at all. And as far as the ribbing goes, I can take as well as I can give. If no one's bustin' my chops around here I'll feel like I'm not one of the gang, y'know? :D
