i bought this early 30s U.S. orphaned suit jacket for myself but unfortunately it's turned out too small.
i would say it's a perfect 35R. it could possibly fit a 36R if you like jackets to be slim fitting.

not really a big issue for me Simon. there seems to be a bit of variety in how flat that area is in vintage boots:
perhaps the lastmakers were pre-empting the fact that the toe will naturally bend up after wear, so made the last as flat as possible ?

TT, yes. Barmey's are 'old brown'. i really like them. they seamlessly fit into an early '20s look, which is what i go for most of the time these days.
