Lovely once again. Those acetate ties - are they later? I don't know when acetate came in. I'm thinking that 'Twill Acetato', second row, second from right looks more modern than the rest.
Gosh I'd never heard of freezing garments! You literally bag it and put it in your freezer? There's no damage to the fibres or anything?
Luckily (touch wood) I've never had a massive problem with moths. I tend to keep a lot of my stuff outside of wardrobes on rails, and regularly get everything...
I get what you mean - they throw the balance right out. Looking closer, I also don't think they're getting the waistcoats right either - like so many repro places.

Very nice Dinerman. Seems odd for it to be such a summery colour (and cut, to be honest) and yet to be in a fairly thick flannel. As you say, it is difficult to pin-down the situation it might have been worn in. You don't suppose it could have been a service jacket? Like for a waiter or valet? A...
Looks great TT. It's a tricky one (for me anyway, so let me have a go :) ). You could easily see that button-stance up to the 1940s, I'd reckon, but the lapels say much earlier? The cuffs and lack of a breast pocket again could be an indicating factor, or indeed just something to do with the...
The Ebay one or the one I've got? I can't quite remember the Ebay listing - only that crazy price!
I'll do some more digging tomorrow. I'll narrow it to the 1930s though. I'm really intrigued now! I hadn't heard of 'Super' until you mentioned it. It must be...
Here we go folks.
Here is the advert that states 'Super' quality, from 1935. Is this the same one you've seen TT?
This one from 1938:
This from 1940. Similar variants crop up all over with the Pyramid hankies doing all sorts of jolly activities.
THIS one I found interesting. From 1941, it...
Although not necessarily 'true' vintage, Terylene ties came about in the 1950s and were still made into the 1960s, when other variants of polyester fibre started to be introduced. They were a modest alternative to silk or wool, and had a brief period of popularity.
I for one love Terylene...
They do look rather good don't they! Although taking HBK's point, they are perhaps a bit outside of my preference for British styles. But to be honest, for an off-the-rack suit, with vintage-inspired details, they're not a bad price! You could get a really boring modern suit from a high-street...
I've done a bit of digging, although not loads, but can't seem to find references to both 'Super' and 'Special' in the same advert - but that doesn't mean there isn't somewhere, but I haven't had time to dig further. However, I have found the 'Super' was used by Tootal themselves. I'll post some...
TT - I'll check that out. I did a quick search but nothing came up.
Hbk - Yes I know what you mean. The pleats are a sticking point for me too.

Haha! That's hilarious. And strangely enough exactly what turned me to Bolshevism. 'Workers of the world unite! You have nothing to lose but the splinters in your fingers and scratches on your bum!'. Emotive stuff, y'know ;)
True. I have a theory, however. I reckon that they used 'Super' and 'Special' interchangeably, especially if it was a shop advertising their range of Tootals, rather than an official Tootal ad. I guess one way to check is to see if 'Super' was mentioned in the same ad as 'Special'. I'll try and...
TT in your price list you mentioned 'Super Quality'. I've never seen nor heard of this other than on a newspaper advert that refers to 'Standard' and 'Super'. Do you have one to show? Or was this just a colloquialism in the advert?
