Thanks guys. I figured wool would be best, but thought I would check. Since the flannel shirts will be plaid, I assume a solid colored tie is preferred, or else a very small discrete check?- tmal

hair control
I have thin balding hair. Each strand of hair is coarse and would prefer to lay wherever it wants too or even stick straight out. One lock up front can never decide if it wants to lay atop my head or go with the part on the side . So gents, what do you recommend for hair tonic?- tmal

I need a pair of moccasins. Not slippers. Real moccasins with a hard sole for walking. I would prefer a dark brown or burgundy color. I've looked at Minnetonka but they are too much like slippers. Nor do I want boat shoes. When I was a kid 1950's-60's you could buy dark brown heavy leather...- tmal

I have always known that I require a higher than normal rise. I have two questions. 1) How do I correctly measure the rise to my natural waist? 2) How do I correctly measure the rise to my hips (where unfortunately all modern pants sit). What were the most popular colors for fedoras in the Golden Age? I would assume that color that matched with your suit or ordinary wear. Thus I would assume silverbelly, gray, or brown. Do we have sales records that tell us what was the most sold? -

I lined the sweatband with moleskin, (the extra thick kind), it fits much better now. I will keep experimenting. I figure that I need to wear it awhile to really check on the fit. Otherwise I am pleased with the hat in all ways. -

OK. The hat came today. I like it! The wife likes it; I am no longer permitted to wear caps! I ordered a 58, and it says 58, but it is too big. I remeasured and I am a 58 - maybe 57.5 if you want to get technical. Three questions: 1) how do I shrink it? 2) what can I line it with to make it... -

I see that there is a website for Hamilton Watch Co. Is the the same Hamilton of legend? I remember the watches from WW2 that many men wore for years. Also, every good car mechanic in the old days wore a Hamilton, at least in my neck of the woods. In other words if I buy one of these watches...- tmal

I ordered mine today! It should be here in time for my birthday. I thought it looked like a good beginning fedora, (something tells me this may the first step to an addiction). :cool:I would have never done it except for the advice at this place. Now, I can't wait.
