    The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

Okay, very nice. You've admired it long enough, now it's time to sell it to someone who it fits and can wear it, such as myself.

    Hasidic Jewish hats

Thanks for your answer to my earlier question, Aaron - "you have to hold them on with your hand". I was rather hoping that there was actually some useful "secret" there that you might reveal. Now for some serious "weekday" hat questions: 1.It appears that particular sects all wear nearly...

    Hasidic Jewish hats

Thank you for the information, and the photographs of the (originally) multi-thousand dollar hat. I have always been curious as to how one keeps a wide-brimmed hat on one's head in a breeze if it is worn so high on the head. Either a really tight fit or glue are the only ways that I can think of.

    Berets, Anyone?

Military berets typically have a drawstring at the back which can be used to adjust the fit of the beret, so you are, indeed, wearing it correctly.

    Berets, Anyone?

Post Ukrainian independence, I would suppose, but I have no idea other than that. The large characters to the right of the "43" are all consonant letters, so they do not make up any word, but are an abbreviation for something. The sounds of the four consonants are most closely approximated by...

    Berets, Anyone?

The symbol on the blue background is a Ukrainian trident, which is shown upside-down in your photograph.

Looking to Buy My First Suit :)

I would also suggest that you don't just look in your immediate area. I found that here, on the east coast of the U.S.A., prices for tailor-made clothing can vary enormously from city to city. Seven of the nine tailors whom I spoke with in the Washington, D.C. area all quoted me prices about...

Looking to Buy My First Suit :)

I had two 3-piece suits made for me, to my precise and somewhat unusual specifications, back in 2010, with "bells and whistles" such as working buttons on the sleeves and outside hand stitching, out of circa 150 thread count fabric, for under $1,100 US, each, and I could have had them made from...

    Smokers and Hat Wearers

"Alcohol can be used in moderation, enhances meals, and some varieties of alcoholic beverages can promote heart health." This would seem to me to imply that it is somehow impossible to use tobacco in moderation, or that people have never enjoyed smoking after, or even during, meals or drinking...

    Borsalino Como in Black (7 1/4 | 59): $100

It certainly wouldn't hurt, but one of the photographs clearly shows "COMO" embossed on the hat's sweatband, so there really shouldn't be much question as to the precise model of Borsalino that it is. Too bad that it's not quite my (or my favorite occasionally hat-wearing nephew's) size.

    Smokers and Hat Wearers

Tobacco products typically are sold with no directions as to how they should be used. That aside, I really wonder why you wouldn't have been able to think of a single other product that might be harmful to people's health. Alcohol, sugar and/or fat filled food, noxious gas spewing vehicles...

    The Maltese Falcon

I'm afraid that I can't find the still photograph to support this, but I definitely recall seeing one in a book, which showed the filming of a Cagney film, perhaps "G-Men", which showed a marksman kneeling on some non-too-solid-looking scaffolding, preparing to fire live rounds from a Thompson...

    Post New Hats Here!

No big deal. I wouldn't really consider wearing a near-white hat until the springtime, anyway. Just the thought of it possibly blowing off and disappearing in the snow is too horrifying. These new Stetsonians don't have wind trolleys, do they?

    Post New Hats Here!

Thanks very much, Frunobulax. I didn't know that it was possible to obtain that color of Stetsonian from Delmonico or I would already have ordered one. Most people estimate my age as being about 15 years younger, without my white beard and mustache in the summer, than they do, with them, in the...

    Borsalino: liner or not

The Borsalino "crushable" (often currently referred to as "rainproof") hats that I have handled, as well as their caps and berets, all have very thin leather sweatbands, in comparison with the considerably more substantial ones in their "standard" hats, and are unlined, as well.

    Post New Hats Here!

Frunobulax, Would you please tell me what hat model very light gray Stetson from Delmonico that is? Is it their new Stetsonian? (I am afraid that I cannot read what it says on the hatbox, and the name of the hat cannot be seen in the photograph of the hat interior.)

    Borsalino: liner or not

    A. "Crushable" Borsalinos typically are unlined. B. Several Borsalino retailers have assured me that Borsalino does not assign names to their hats but only numbers. Borsalino's own website does not assign any names to their various hats that are shown there. Various Borsalino models have come to...
