Sleeves--whole jacket--fine. (And wonderful). You want the sleeves there so when you bend your arm they dont ride up over your shirt cuffs, and there will be creasing, etc. May feel funny to you around the hand but looks just right.
Thanks. The website looks thorough--the way they measure, etc--but I agree: when they see all the stuff, at least I'll feel better that everything is accounted for, and if it works, it would be great to have them just make pairs as I need them. Also would help to actually see their...
I'm looking for a custom shoe/bootmaker who can deal with heel and sole lifts and special insole issues.
the problem: My right leg is almost an inch and a half shorter than the left and I wear a half inch lift on the outside and a quarter inch inside my shoes/boots. Also, the feet are slightly...
That would be pushing it for me. I have a light HH A2 also and wore it yesterday, but it got to the mid-70s (started in the 40s). I bailed on it by mid-morning. Have a HH vest I also like in mild weather.
Just curious, when the weather turns warm and the leather goes in the closet what replaces it? Denim shirts, straw hats, vests? Where does the love go?
I have a US Wings Indy in distressed cow i bought second-hand. Really nice, well-made jacket. Runs a tad roomy in size. The cuffs are nicely turned under. Very durable good-looking jacket.
I had only black ones for years. Now others too, but I still like black, if it's lamb and/or a style jacket. Goes w/everything. Minimal. Cleaner lines. Expecially with no brass/nickel/studs/buckles/snaps.d-rings, etc.
Shirt buttons I sew back on every so often. Same with pants buttons. doesn't bother me. But coat buttons are now a joke, as mentioned. The good smaller Italian brands still do them well. Canali, Valentino. I just stopped buying any heavy coats w/buttons period (the older ones I have are ok)...
I also have an Excelled with sloppy and asymmetrical stitching--light horse--but I do find it a comfortable jacket that zips and wears well and my jackets get so beat the stitching is the least of my problems....but you are right the construction seems "cheap" if you think about it too much. I...
If it's Vanson how bad can it be; I have Barbour pants from them, they're fine. A couple shirts are ok, Stuff is only close-to-worth-it at the lowest sale price of the season; I agree about the run-of-mill store brand leathers there. Crummy gloves; one suede jacket from there, steep sale, bled...
I like Merrell Barcelona midboots. Light. Tough. Not a killer price. Flat soles that can be replaced. But, alas, when I went to get more, seems like discontinued and they've gone to molded soles for their boots.
I like the seal brown. Always looks better on, that color, than it does in photos. I have a no name horse A2 that is medium--even light--weight in seal brown and I've come to wear it a lot in spring and fall.
I think it fits/looks just right. I disagree about loose fit--I dont want to buy to fatten into. Not only that, I used to buy a bit small in the shoulders, as long as the overall length was good. I found on good jackets, the leather stretches to fit and even gets roomier. The ill-fitting ones...
