    Ew! Armpit stink!

I noticed BO on a linen shirt after I had washed it and started to iron it. I let it soak for an hour in a mixture of tepid water and Biz, then rewashed it. That got the funk out.

    Ruby Slippers

If it's for something like a costume party, you could get a pair of basic pumps at a thrift store. If you need something more accurate, these shoes might work: http://www.danceshoesonline.com/tags/dsol/women_pump/680104.htm Compare the shape and heel height to the originals at the Smithsonian:

How long does it take to set your hair?

If you think you have rotator cuff problems, see a doctor right away. Over time, they get worse and eventually, there's little or nothing that can be done but put up with pain.

How long does it take to set your hair?

When I pincurled my hair, it took about 15 to 20 minutes to put it in pincurls. It took at least eight hours to dry in the summer, even in this arid climate. The hairstyle in my avatar takes about 15 minutes with a curling iron.

So what did you wear to ring in the New Year?

Jeans, booties and a black velvet blazer. For the New Year's Day dance: brown linen skirt, green linen top and brown sueded tennis shoes.

Another question about hair--taming the mane.

When I was pin curling my hair, I had to use an anti-frizz product (like John Frieda) and conditioner.

Television... who's sick of it? Anyone?

I don't have starchy objections to sex or innuendo on TV, I just rarely find it entertaining. Last night I was at the house of some friends and saw trailers for upcoming shows. Three shows, and I couldn't tell the difference between them. Once scene involved two young lawyers trading blouses in...

Television... who's sick of it? Anyone?

Forty years ago on Laugh-In it might have been funny and fresh. But for 20 years most comedies and morning DJs have gone for the same cheap jokes.

    Paranormal Activity

One of my coworkers found it very scary and had trouble going to sleep for weeks. I guess that means she liked it. [huh]

    Valentines Day?

A CPA I used to work with did valuations for divorces for 20 or 30 years. Only two couples ever got back together...for a few months. One couple he knew decided to get separate residences and stay married.

    Hiding your television etc

That's pretty much what I've got in my armoire. Something like this:

"Here's looking at you, kid" and what might get you slapped

 There's nothing to make you seem old like saying "I'm not that old!"

Vintage Desecration - Things Altered/Repurposed, and a Vintage Treasure Lost Forever.

Dorothy Draper (b. 1889) used to advice her clients to paint their woodwork white. How I wish the woodwork in my house had never been painted! :(

    Hiding your television etc

I've always regretted getting furnishings that were good enough for now. I'd end up wishing I'd saved my money and gotten something better.

    Facebook anybody?

A couple of people keep bugging me to get a Facebook page. Not to see what I'm up to, but for me to look at their pictures.

    Hiding your television etc

I have an armoire made to hold a TV and other electronics. It has a cardboard back with punched holes. I close the doors and the TV, VCR, DVD player and boom box vanish from sight.
