Replacement sweatband (on photo) is leather.
The original sweatband was brown with golden Mayser logo, but unfortunately very brittle and ripped.
Interesting how frequently these illustrations show and mention 'Tyrolean' hats... I knew they existed also outside Germany, the alpine region or continental Europe, but would not have thought they were that much of a thing in the US.

Hat was in bad shape and has been cleaned and resteamed. Damaged leather has been replaced.

Brown one is unmarked with small repair to leather, overall good condition. The grey one is a Wegener with soft Antilope finish and in very good condition.

The scalopped yokes and saddles, so popular in German tailoring, elements often associated with "Western style" in the US, are frequent features also of the alpine Trachten style. They were more common also in Anglo tailoring before WW1.
