Yes, indeed some features are quite distinctive. Probably the seller was not aware of most of them and listed as 1950s just to say that the cut don't resemble more modern examples, which from Sixties were cut quite differently.
Anyway it's really lovely, hope you'll enjoy it!
I'm resuming this because the the lack of such clothing pieces is so sad that and I wonder if there could be some arrangement. You all know the Bay is full of 70s waistcoats, most of them featuring medium-long body and very deep neck opening. I have a similar one made from the same cloth front...
Very interesting finds, Papperskatt! It reminds me when my grand-parents used to live in the large family dwelling, a very ancient country-hous that our ancestors populated since the first centuries of Middle Age. Well, there was a large attic and there were wardrobes full of old clothing...
Sleeves, waist and vents are easy alterations. Shortening the skirt may not be recommended, especially when shortening more than 1 inch; furthermore, the basic alterationst can really do a mess, having you spend not so few bucks.
Basically the same advice as before: be aware that extremely thin fabric wouldn't drape well and wear out soon. The suit in the listing seems pretty classic-shaped and I know Canali is a very quality brand; if you like the colour (I think it's interesting and not boring) and the style, surely...
It's only my opinion, but a Super130s wool would wear out in a couple of days you wear it; not to mention the wrinkles when you just sit down, which also would probably be difficult to get rid of because of heat and sweating.
I don't have experience with this brand in particular, but be advised...
It seems that nobody manifactures a waistcoat properly cut for high waisted trousers: even this claimed period reproduction seems to me awfully long (if 22 inches is the back length) to wear even with late 40s medium-high rise.
But I don't have any of them, so I possibly can be wrong.
Keep searching: only being patient and perserverant you can find interesting things.
Just a (not so cheap) specimen:

Another site to watch is Etsy: it's good...
Hello.
If you're not into thrift shops (like me) the best way to find something rest still eBay. You can find lots of "vintage suits", most of which will be from 70s and 80s, but there are almost always interesting pieces. Sizes are the concern: bids in eBay must show actual measurement of the...
