    Show Us Your OVERCOATS

This is not mine (sigh!) but I think it's worth to put it here. I think this is my dream overcoat!

    Original Owners of Vintage Clothes

My grandfather used to wear suits almost every day and I remember him wearing either some bold look jackets and late 50s-60 suits with period tipical ties. Some time ago I looked around what remained of his clothes (he passed away in 1998) and found only the ties and a couple of suits (clearly...

    The Linen Suit

A suit that truly stands out! Personally, I'd have left undone the top button but it's a matter of personal taste.

    Braces/Suspenders Question

There are also different back shapes. I think the most interesting is the "V shaped" one: I think that with this configuration it would be easier to wear high(er than today) waisted trousers, especially the ones having "high back", without having the two straps pulling at the base of neck if...

    Vintage shirt swap thread

Very nice shirts, but I'm a cursed size (14.5 neck with 33.5 sleeves) to swap!

    1927 Summer Suit 42R - 44R

Yeah, the cut itself seems earlier than 1927 (longer and boxier coat). Maybe the owner wanted an older look?

    Can someone identify this suit?

Knowing that Lanificio Policarpo started his activity in 1945, it's unlikely that this suit would come farther than 80s.

WTB: lightweight suit (or jacket) in 36L size

Hello friends, I'm looking for a lightweight suit for myself; vintage but not to break the bank. Almost any era, just looking for something that fits nicely without being an "holy grail". I prefer medium toned colours more than very light ones. Well, I'm not going to make a list of wanted...

How many suits do you own?

1 early 1930s suit in very thick black wool; 1 dated 1938 american drape suit in blue serge with fine red stripes; 1 mid 1950s bold look double breasted in a beautiful gray heavy wool; 1 lighter blue 1970s suit I use only beacuse of its freedom of movement (has very high armholes) The rest is...

Baby Blue Burton Belt Back Suit

I wonder why so many cleaners keep to press lapels instead of steaming them and let them rolling to original shape. It's even easier (if they don't use machine-pressing).

A timeless movie: And Then There Were None, directed by René Clair in 1945. I'm quoting this because it brought menswear to my attention. Barry Fitzgerald: A shot of many characters. Louis Hayward's Hollywood drape: Detail of Hayward's armhole:

I still can't believe that! This seller must have some troubles measuring coats!

Several Interesting Vintage Suits via Ebay

In this one, too, measurements seem rather amazing. A suit with a chest clearly cut for a 36-37 has a shoulder measurement of 19'', that's very big even for coats with a certain amount of shoulder wadding!

Beautiful suit. There was a bunch of great pieces near a week ago at Savvy Row; sadly they were a bit small, even for me!

I've always had a thing for single breasted peak lapels. That's quite distinctive, indeed.
