If you are after repro rather than original, as well as Old Town/Tin House you could try...

excellent stuff! Nice to see those rare pics of Helen Twelvetrees, one of many golden age stars now pretty much totally forgotten. I believe she committed suicide sometime in the 1950s, very sad.
I have seen quite a few trousers I'd date as 1950s with Gripper Zippers...come to think of it I don't think I've seen them on anything other than 50s gear.
Lee Japan uses them on some of their repro denim, which may mean that the brand still exists or may simply mean that Lee has had them...
shucks Salv! My face has gone all red! You silver tongued young flatterer.
A meet up would be nice. I fancy a trip to the Black Cotton Club or the International Club if they are on that weekend....

Most of my Rembetika is on LP, though there are some great CDs now available - I keep meaning to buy this one…..

The FL is not, and I don’t think it was ever intended to be, a vintage clothing forum. I’d describe it as a forum centred round classic mens hats which branches off into a wide range of related topics of which vintage is simply one of the more important. But there are plenty people here whose...
ditto and amen to all of that!!
I am a particularly big fan of WS, especially the thirties and early 40s stuff.
I listen to a lot of non-jazz/non-US ethnic and tradtional music as well.....VERY partial to Rembetika.
I've never seen Young Guns. In general I tend to be disappointed in...
we had a thread touched on the WW2 DR coat a while back, I posted some pics you might find interesting

"PLASTICATED FABRIC" eh!! Only back in the 50s and 60s would that have been used as a selling point. I once had a...
yes, an ELC LW, one of the few repros in my obsessively large leather jacket collection. It's basically a copy of a 1930s French biker jacket, as you know the LW didn't have an issue leather jacket. The rest of the outfit is original 1930s gear, I gave up wearing modern clothes years ago...
glad to be of service!
I find the heavy use of string leads (notably fiddle/guitar/steel guitar) particularly appealing as well....which reminds me, if you feel like crossing back over the Atlantic, and haven't yet come across it, Western Swing is well worth checking out - indeed much...
thank you Jack, nice to be back, though it'll be temporary. Time's the problem. Being self employed means time spent on the Lounge is time not spent keeping a roof over my head. So I have to have long breaks now and then (not such a problem for many here: I can't help but notice how the Lounge...
and for those who may scoff, I too can thoroughly recommend the study of both zips and British telephone numbers as a guide to dating vintage clothing, and as fascinating subjects in their own right......
yes, it kind of focuses the mind. My eldest is now 26. Given that the relative age thing changes once you're into the mid 20s it feels like he's catching up.
My youngest is now 14. Having been DAD for the past 26 years it is an odd feeling to not have at least one small child around anymore.
