I unfortunately don't have a block, hence why most of my hats are bashed so sloppily. But if you're patient enough you can use a small bowl or a ladle and get at least a similar effect.
Old poll bump, but I'm a little surprised how few people answered!
Having said that, the fold I choose depends on color, the suit it's going with, and the material.
Silk are usually pretty puffy. Linen squares I actually go with the "3 stairs" fold.
Rainy day. Giorgio Cellini Ultra by Biltmore and a Christian Dior trench coat covering up a 1954 charcoal suit.
Hope everyone elsewhere is staying dry!
Seems to be the consensus haha. I could very well be wrong, but when you see it in person it just seems authentic. If it's non original, somebody was very skilled
You know, I think my love of hats got me into Indiana Jones more than visa versa. I've always loved fedoras, and when I finally saw Raiders, embarrassingly within the last two years, I loved everything about his hat.
Someone mentioned it was too exaggerated, but the extreme worn look and large...
Here's some more pictures of it, excuse the rain droplets. The way the ribbon is stitched in the back looks factory done to me, and considering how to-size it is with the hat makes it seem pretty authentic. Not a whole lot of info on Hopkins hats. But what I have seen is that they made some...
Yup. No sign of a previous ribbon. No stitch marks to be found or anything. The ribbon on it is very tight to the hat. I got it at a goodwill, and the label inside is from a department store that closed in the 50s in town. It's incredible that it's stayed local for so long.
Yup. Considering the age of it, it's always possible it's not original but it really seems lie it is. I like how strange it is. I'm a sucked for tacky patterns and I've got other grey hats with "normal" ribbons for when I'm feeling a bit more conservative.
