I've been working my way through this thread and a few things came to mind.
First, any time someone starts a thread about a particular bit of clothing being worn in an inappropriate setting the discussion quickly settles into a couple of well-worn ruts. You have those on the side of "anything...
Saving energy? What's that??? :p
Seriously, I must admit we don't take a lot of steps specifically to save energy. I like to have the indoor temperature of my house comfortable (cool enough in the summer, warm enough in the winter) though we do have an electronic thermostat to allow for higher...
Regarding the current state of the trend of using online sources as references for papers and other research, Edward wrote:
When I first started working on my Masters (online program) I tended to use online sources, until I discovered the online library my school has. I could put in the same...
Dang, Josh, that's horrible!!!
I guess I've been lucky--in the hundreds of purchases I've made on eBay, with the vast majority being sent USPS, the ONLY ones I've had damaged enroute were damaged by commecial shippers. From your description of the lack of packing care I'd assign a lot of the...
This is one of the phrases people like to use that I find highly disrespectful in itself. I believe that it is completely backwards and is used as an excuse to treat everyone around them with disrespect or without at least without respect because no one has "earned" their respect. A highly...
Hats are like shoes. It coats money to make a variety of sizes and ahapes. Most manufacturers go for the average and tell those who need a wider shoe or a long oval hat to go up one size. Of course, that only results in shoes and hats that don't actually fit correctly, but people buy them anyway...
Ale,
I'd never seen them mentioned in any of the various threads on transporting hats, just the octogonal ones. It's just what I'd been looking for. It'll get a lot of use, and I may need to get another!
Cheers,
Tom
As Marc and Blitz said, PT Cruiser works fine with a hat; the retro look goes well with one, too. ;) I have a 2004 model. Unfortunately, Chrysler never does know what to do with a hit when they have one, so the Cruiser was left to languish and die. I've got over 180K miles on mine and have...
Hat Travel Box
I picked up a travel box of a type I've not seen before.
The source of the case is printed on top, so I checked out the web site. Turns out I got it for about half of what they go for. :D I put the info about the site in this thread should anyone be interested it getting one...
There are a number of different threads on this subject but I decided to revive this one as the title is a general one.
I like to take more than one hat when traveling, but even when traveling by car I worry about the safety of my hats. I might put them on top of everything else, but they...
It's not a case of ruining a leather purse, it's a case of what the purse picks up in it's travels. Apparently women's purses, especially the underside, tend to pick up and carry some very nasty things: http://www.snopes.com/medical/disease/purse.asp
My wife does use a purse hanger at times...
Hats, of course.
Saddle shoes.
An Ironrite iron with chair.
Vintage razors and wet shaving.
And that's just for starters! Lots of influences regarding clothing and other things. In some cases such as the Ironrite it was something I'd never known about, and in others, such as the hats...
Good on ya for posting those, Nigel! They've been up for a long time; possibly relisted. I've seen them as I sometimes do a search on Champ, but didn't think to post them here. Chief, good luck!
Cheers,
Tom
Looks like we might be able to go, after all. My sister-in-law teaches at the elementary school as our granddaughters go and my wife thinks she can get her sister to take them home after school and take them back to school the next day. Annnddd if I can schedule myself to work at the campus I...
Dang, it would be on a Wednesday night! I live about 1 1/2 to 2 hours away from any of the closest theaters to me that will be showing it. I'd be willing to do the late night, but with the added issue of what to do with our granddaughters I don't see us being able to go.
Bummer.
In the US the zipper pull is usually on the right for men, left for women if I recall correctly. I bought a fleece vest while in Wales and have a heck of a time with it's left-side slider, whereas my buddy who is English and wears a US-made motorcycle riding suit had a hard time adapting to the...
