Not that long ago someone would have jumped on it at $300, I think. There was a period when Whippets in that size did very well. Of course, those were hats where the bidding started at a more reasonable amount and the prices went up through bidding. I think some sellers really shoot themselves...

Congratulations!!!
(I had a whole row of applause going, but due to site limitations I had to settle for 10!)
Flat-Top,
I'm sorry to hear of all this happening to you. I've not had the same sort of situation that you or Scott have had to deal with, but I do know from experience that while a series of blows can knock you down with help you can get back up again. There are some good words of advice here...
And, unfortunately, becoming less and less so.
No, no we do not. You personally may, but I don't believe the majority of our citizens agree with you.
I have no quarrel with your definition of a militia, but how many local communities are organized to respond quickly? Just about none, I...
During the recent power outages here in Ohio an Ace Hardware store opened for business and accepted IOUs from their customers. They could take cash but since ATMs were down people didn't have access to it! Now THAT was customer service!
You obviously did price it accurately here initially, since it sold (including shipping) at very close to that amount. Your subsequent price drops that weren't taken advantage of may have a few who thought to get it for less through an auction kicking themselves! (Not me, as it's too big for me...
How on earth do they manage to ensure/enforce that??? Unless guests are willing to allow searches of persons and luggage there is no way to make such a statement and have it be completely accurate.
Hi, Doc, and welcome!
I don't have any info, but I did a search on the address you gave and found it's in the UK, currently a store called Cradle Care. If it belonged to the guy from SC he spent some time in the UK.
Don't have time at the moment to address your additional questions; perhaps...
I wear long V-neck undershirts from Jockey. I've never found them in the store; had to do a search online to find what I wanted. I found them here and buy them directly from Jockey. A bit pricey, but I've found them worth the cost.
Hope this helps!
Tom
Geez. I stumbled across the comment about his passing in the What Hat Are You Wearing thread and was stunned. A good guy, to be sure, and will be missed.
Sounds like there are regional distinctions, then, or the use of the term has changed. In the mid-70s in the fans I knew at conventions in the Southern California area those who referred to themselves as "Trekkers" did so to distinguish themselves from those fans who acted more like groupies of...
Not many people seem to know the distinction between a Trekker and a Trekkie. I've always considered myself a Trekker as well.
As both a Trekker and a retired military member I had a very difficult time with this as well. I did my best to set aside the previous iterations of Star Trek to enjoy...
When I was still active duty I bought a motorcycle on eBay. I was stationed in South Carolina and the motorcycle (a '72 Yamaha 650) was in Kansas City. At the airport I discovered that even with an active duty military ID card you get selected for "special treatment" if you're a male flying...
Actually, long trousers with a tight weave do make a good emergency floation device. You tie knots in the ends of both legs and zip/button the fly. You then hold it behind you by the waist and quickly bring it up over your head and down waist-first into the water in front of you. This traps air...
Good on ya, Randall! I considered bidding on it as I have a friend I am trying to get into wearing decent hats, but I suspect he is a long oval so held off. Glad I did and I hope it turns out as nice as I think it will!
I am already short legged with a long torso, so I do not need any help achieving the look. To try to minimize it I buy (when possible) from the "tall" selection of trousers and have them hemmed to fit my inseam. This gets me the longer rise I am looking for to put the waist of the trousers where...
