It's a little hard to see in the pic but that looks like a leaf in the logo on the sweatband which usually means 50's or younger and the little white bow on...
The New Year is starting out in stellar fashion, Well done Everyone!
Winding down tonight from a family birthday party, I was the dish washer (washing, bussing and waiting tables got me through college).
Today and tonight I sported this early 50's Stetson 3X Mode Edge
My Iphone camera has...
If it ever makes the rounds again on TCM " Murder on a Bridle Path" from 1936 with James Gleason and Helen Broderick is a Hat lovers tour de force. If you like William Powell "The Kennel Murder Case" is another great one for hats.
I really haven't thanked Everyone enough for all the kind words this year. Thank You, Everyone.
I chose that Borsalino as my year-out hat for the uniqueness of it. Super thin, light and moldable and a razor sharp crease unlike anything made today. That's not that I don't keep buyng new hats...
WOW, 2015 goes out with a BANG! Great, Great hats today everyone! Well done, One and All. Wishing Everyone a healthy and happy New Year
Borsalino Ludola in the elusive Bismuto color which is grey that is kind of greenish, kind of brownish
I think if he had his own felting factory and the knowledge or recipe of how they used to make the great felt we all like in vintage hats, that would really be something. Offered a product so great and that only he could produce, I might be in for a hat at that price. But Fepsa felt? The same...
I used to worry up until the day the tracking number said it was "out for delivery". Then I'd check the porch about every half hour. I even worry at this stage now as a hat was recently delivered to the wrong address! Went to "Pine St" instead of "Vine St". This has happened with other mail but...
Congrats on that Playboy, Anthony! Can't wait to see it on you.
The Vita Felt no liner Playboy is a dream hat for me too. I'm afraid of what I might be willing to pay for one!
It's also the kind of hat that makes you sweat worrying about it getting to you safe and sound.
Cool liner logo and pin but seems likely made after the Philly Factory closed, sweatband looks 70's to me, low crown, stingy brim, so not a lot of collectors would be after this hat
If he can get people to pay that, good for him. I agree with You, Moon it seems like a recipe for failure. I wouldn't buy one for the same reason I would never buy an Optimo. Fepsa felt, while good by modern standards just doesn't compare to most vintage hats. I'll continue to spend my money on...
+1 what Fruno said.
VT, it's the tall straight sided crowns, 5 1/2-6 inch and big brims in the 2 1/2-3 inch range that fetch bigger prices. If it were a Stetson or a Borsalino that helps a lot for a better price. Larger sizes are a big factor in value as well.
