    The Chile rescue

This is what I was referring to from the article you posted: “It was important to have them all working together as a team,” said Alberto Iturra, the chief psychologist at the mine, confirming that there had been a split. “I don’t exactly know what occurred between them but the most important...

    Embarrassing Moments in Dance

Ah, c'mon--you guys surely don't go around walking into walls, do you? ;) I had a some great partners over the weekend who had to be well over 200 pounds. I know I've said it before, but take little steps, keep your feet close to the floor, and handle your partner gently. Do those three...

    Embarrassing Moments in Dance

More painful than embarrassing, but last year I ended up with turf toe while practicing hacksaws. Excruciating. A few weeks later, I was still in pain but couldn't resist going to a dance. First I turned down a regular partner, then agreed to balboa with another. The first one saw me...

    Embarrassing Moments in Dance

I fell down while dancing a couple of times when I was a beginner. At least once in front of my teachers.

Yes, playing an instrument and moving your body are two very different skills.

    Embarrassing Moments in Dance

I had a close call last night. I was at a club with a small, crowded dance floor. My partner led a free turn and when I came back around, I saw two leads with their hand out. (One of them was Nick from Las Vegas, who's the emcee for a lot of swing events.) For a second, I didn't know which one...

Christopher Titus liked to say that psychologists go into psychology to try to learn how to deal with their own crap.

Did the colors change again? The stickies look more reddish-brown now. I like it.

Remembering Barbara Billingsley & Other Iconic TV Moms (& Dads)

I like the more colorful moms: Mrs. Carlson on WKRP in Cincinnati, Mrs. Dubchek on Third Rock from the Sun, and and Vicki Lawrence as Mama on The Carol Burnett Show. Mama and Eunice remind me of my mom (pre-blood sugar control) and sister Cheryl.

Is it just me, or has some of the orange (like the lettering) now yellow? I like the yellow better.

    What are you listening to?

Nightmare. It's the first new music I've gotten excited about in ten years. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKMJXtRzm9k&feature=player_embedded

I read that the miners' mail and news were censored and that the psychologists on site denied them "privileges" like TV if the miners didn't talk to them. Outrageous! http://www.spiked-online.com/index.php/site/article/9785/...

    Not feeling like myself

This is a new one on me. What kind of dance class was this? I can see the need to wear pants or a tennis-type skirt in an aerials class, or being hampered by a hoop skirt while attempting the Argentine tango (as if that ever happens), but for anything else [huh] Your instructor (or partner)...

do you ever go to restaurants by yourself?

I like the counter, too, and feel more at home there. Besides, I think you get better service there. I seldom eat out, though. It's just not that hard to make a good lunch at home.

do you ever go to restaurants by yourself?

I either go alone or with my dog in the passenger seat. ;) On a similar note, my cousin's wife once asked me if I went dancing with a group of friends. I told her that at my age (late 30s at the time), if I waited for a group of friends to go somewhere, I'd never leave the house.

    (Re)Book-em Danno

I'm sure many people identify with Dan's anger and frustration, but it doesn't make him a sympathetic character to someone with a different perspective. Being less angry, or at least more self-controlled about it, would make him more likeable and more believable as a good policeman, who should...

    So Annoyed!!

You ought to come to Denver on your next vacation. People here dress in every way you can imagine without getting a second look. Most people here are really polite, too. By Denver, I mean downtown Denver. The suburbs are another story.
