I just placed my hat on my head. To me, cocking your hat to one side looks like you're trying to re-enact something you saw in a movie.
But even some movie directors don't make their actors cock their hats.
But to each his own.
Ian "Molly" Meldrum is an Australian icon. Often on television, Molly is a music critic, journalist and music producer. Since the late 1970s he has never been seen in public without his trademark hat.
I believe his hat was modelled off a modified Stetson (not sure which). The model...
I've got the Heritage Fawn Fed IV. Perhaps the decent thing for me to do is buy a Tawny Fawn so we can all compare and learn. After all, I am closer to Hats Direct then you are.
I've enjoyed reading all the replies.
I suspect (for me at least) there is an inverse relationship between this forum and hat contentment.
I see some great hats on here and then start thinking about the next hat I "need".
I don't have a hat problem. They say the first step is admitting you...
I've already loved the Open Road. I have 3 Akubra Campdrafts but wasn't satisfied.
Finally, here's my Fawn 6x OR which I reshaped to better suit my taste
Before
After
I have had this strange feeling. I am content with my current collection of hats.
My collection consists of:
2 Akubra Fed IV Deluxe (Heritage Fawn & Moonstone)
1 Akubra 'RM'
3 Akubra Campdraft (Moonstone, BGG, Silverbelly)
1 Akubra Stylemaster (Regency Fawn)
2 Akubra Banjo Paterson (one with a...
Eric, it's *a* Maserati NOT *my* Maserati. It was the first car I thought of after reading your sports car comment.
The Cayenne is certainly a nice way to get from A to B.
My latest Gannon took less then a week to get to Melbourne from USA. When I was handed the package my heart sank. One side...
Oh, and as for sports cars. There aren't too many bad things to be said about...

...you know, other than cost, noise, fuel inefficiency, environmental impact. And not something to enjoy with whisky. But it will certainly get you...
Yep. There are worse things in the world then sitting back wearing a fur felt fedora and sipping a glass of whisky. My current favourite is Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Bourbon (very un-Australian - apologies to my compatriots on FL).
Thanks Fed.
For some time I was reading this thread with a mix of admiration and envy until I finally ordered my first Gannon.
Now I have 2 Gannon's and I still read this thread with a mix of admiration and envy.
There are some amazing Gannon's out there.
Thanks Eric. Yes, I'm very happy with the hat. It's going well with a navy blue suit today.
Your hat looks terrific too. The wind trolley is a classy touch.
Andrew
Thanks everyone.
It's my second custom hat. I have one vintage (Borsalino) and several Akubra's that I bought new.
There is something very special about a custom hat!
I agree. I had a Christys' fordable hat. Terrible. Returned it to the store and swapped it for an Akubra Traveller. I also cut off the wore brim. I'm now thinking about swapping the leather crown band for ribbon and binding the brim too. Traveller is a good hat to shove into an overhead locker.
