I can't see a taper but the crown on the brown hat is higher than your moonstone crown. Lower the crown on the brown Fed a bit more and that should give it a squarer look.
I'm interested in building my collection of vintage hats. I'm especially interested in vintage Borsalino Alessandria. I'm a size 60 or 7 1/2 and I have been struggling to find one in my size either in the Classifieds here on FL, Etsy or on ebay.
Any tips on where I should be looking?
CD in blue is a great idea. Loungers have previously banded together to place a bulk order for a non-standard Akubra. Perhaps we should try that for a navy blue CD?

Michael, yes the brim is down all the way around but it was easy enough to get an upward curve on the back of the brim.

In my opinion it's a nicer brown than the Cedar Brown CD and slightly taller crown. Not open crown but very easy to reshape into a fedora with a little bit of steam.
Esther I was surprised to see that the hat you made was unbound. I just assumed is was a customer specification.
