It is not that unusual. All of our schools have a "sun smart" policy. During our summer months children must wear a hat when playing outdoors. Many schools have Akubra as part of the school uniform. But I suspect they order from Akubra Corporate Direct rather than a retail stockist

If there is a solid knot at the stitching you should be fine to trim the excess line/thread. If in doubt go back to your local hat shop (or a local tailor/seamstress) and ask them to do it for you.
Yes she. I was being flippant before. Sorry. There are some differences between the Imperial and Heritage grades but they are almost undetectable differences from the outside. That said there are some colours available in Heritage that aren't available in Imperial.
