First full day in the IH “Pale Rider” yesterday. Went to a family party. A couple of observations:
1. The shirt can be worn as a real “shirt”, not just a shirtstyle jacket. Sure, it’s not as pliable as a dress/sports shirt or even a thick denim, but it’s pliable enough and feels reasonably...
AsI said in the other thread: very nice jacket, and it suits you well! If you can live with the slim fit, you’ve got yourself a longtime companion.
I feel silly having asked about the hide. Typical goatskin look. Not a patina-monster, but so easy wearing and of course long-lasting. Perfect...
Temperature drop by ten degrees, so I can actually "wear" the Pale Rider to fetch breakfast in the morning.
Tanning goes according to plan. Current status is the dreaded "English Sunburn" color. Break-in is happening, albeit slowly, due to neglectable wear-time so far. I do notice some...
Wow, nice find! Never heard of that one before. A bit like a "Star Lightning" on steroids. The multi-panel back is a bit of a turn-off, but the rest is just superb!
That´s the plan! I had a Premier HWM in this hide ones, but didn´t see the process through as I wasn´t wearing the jacket often enough. Hopefully, a shirt gets a different kind of use.
The leather picks up sunrays pretty quickly, so I imagine to see the first coloration already. I am not in a...
Not a jacket per se, but...
Iron Heart "Pale Rider".
So, I finally did it. I was debating for a long time, doubtful if I´d ever become a "leather-shirt-guy", but then it was pretty much an impulse decision, followed by a very good consultation with Burg&Schild Hamburg who promised to hold back...
Haha, yeah, reading this makes perfect sense...
I saw the photo first and thought, “woah, I wish my Vanson ‘B’ would fit as great as that!”
Alas, all jackets look great in photos as long as they are one size too small in real life. ;)
Still a great jacket, and you DO wear it well.
When you wake up to another Saturday that is already too hot at 6am you know there is no jacket that “you are wearing today”.
I guess I could have posted this in the “Hidden in plain - cars”: the 613SH” thread.
At least it gets to travel to the country with me and my wife…
Greg Field has (had?) an oil tanned pony hide. Looks the part, but is a bit too soft to the hand for my liking.
So yeah, Himels oil-tan horse is pretty unique, I guess. Even here, I strongly prefer the (dark) brown over the black.
All personal preferences here, of course.
Certainly no consensus i.r.o. stitching. Mine are nicely stitched, and I don’t seek perfection. Others have been disappointed, and there are plenty of pictures around.
Leather is great, IMO. have only tried Himels shinki (black pigment, black oil, bdown), and it’s absolutely tops in terms of...
Ah, don’t really want to go there. I never had any negative experience with Himel, but he has a talent to offend unhappy customers. Also, it appears that ordering MTM jackets with him can be hit or miss, which really is not acceptable at the prices he charges.
Still, there is criticism that I...
