Hello everyone!
Last week I drove once again down to see the guys at Original Flightjackets ( www.original-flightjackets.com ). When I left here it was raining cats and dogs but when I arrived at the depot the weather had become much better.
It also seemed that I arrived just in time to take a...
Mmh, that's strange!
But the jacket JFK is wearing (although it might be not the one from the auction) is definitely leather. Here's a better picture with higher resolution:
Great jacket and great details, too. A 30s HB in seal goat with throatch latch rings a distant bell... I'll probably remember sooner or later!
Wear it in good health...you got a super jacket there!
Good thread!
I totally agree with what has been said so far!
It's the same dilemma over here! "Made in Germany" also used to be a strong selling point for many quality products. But since all German car manufacturers source their components from elsewhere and BMW and Mercedes even opened...
The Spearhead is a nice jacket! But the cut is not as sharp and the fabric a lot thinner (going by the pics). I would have bought something from the Spearhead range if the cut would be less roomy and short. Some of their jackets look nice!
It was around 400 BP (OiPolloi, Manchester). Esemplare online now sells remaining stock for 300 € but only larger sizes are available.
The model is called "Brayden".
Hi there,
does anybody of you own (or have handled) this beautiful jacket?
It's made by Italian brand Esemplare. The guy behind it used to work or still works for Stone Island. So you can guess it's dear but also well made and crafted from heavy, quality materials.
It was part of their...
From my experience tumbled and vintage are the same. The hides are given an extra tumbling after being processed. That slightly loosens up the fibres which leads to a more pliable leather right from the start.
After that tumbling the skins are given a slight roll with a warm rod which levels...
Edward, those service pants have a quite modern fit. They are quite slim but without any taper on th leg. I wouldn't call them low waisted like some of the modern fashion chinos are but they aren't high waisted either. Very wearable pattern I think and the heavy selvedge twill is the icing on...
I would also recommend a size 36 for you but make sure sleeve length and back length are ok for your size.
Here's what a size 38 30s HB looks on guy (well, me) with a 39.5 inch chest:
I wouldn't oil them for at least a year as the leather is already mineral tanned and heavily stuffed und cured. If you put on boot oil the leather will become greasy and definitely stain the hem of your pants. After all it's an oil-pull leather...
When you take a brand new pair out of the box...
That's Horween Front Quarter Chromexcell horsehide, Aero's trademark leather. No, goat can never look like that. Total different tanning (veg tanned, chrome re-tanned) and processing (hot stuffing with wax tallow and oil) and curing.
Creasing? You mean scratches? Those disappear with a hot...
All of the aspects discussed above apply to both leathers. The method of tanning and the processing afterwards can be even more important than the properties of the bare skins.
Veg tanned goat with a light spray finish ages beautifully and will develop a rich patina over time. Chrome tanned...
Another great jacket that I really like and that I would love to own. Again great hide, colour, and some really unusual and interesting details. Mark clearly does some great work and the leather looks amazing.
Fit is good (spot on) but not quite as sharp as on your new The Few A-1. This is not a...
Mmh, yummy!! Very nice jacket! Great colour, fit and details too. The leather has a lot of grain and the surface finish appears to be very light.
May I ask if you bought it directly from Japan or via John Chapman? I seem to recall that he had a Real McCoy dealership for the US...
PS: Good...
For me jacket, belt and shoes should be sort of a match ie. lighter and darker shades are allowed even complementary colours or colours that go well with each other BUT never black And brown. Unless it's let's say mid brown jacket, belt and shoes and black turtleneck and pants. That would work...
YES! Griff this is the one! Great you've found it. Much cheaper from RL's site...also reduced by a good amount.
Mine are a size W32L34 and the fit is great.
Here's another pic of some dude wearing them:
Edward, if I would have access to premium 30s-60s NOS military surplus (British...
