That's a chinese made Type I trucker. You can find them on AliExpress. Quality is OK, not comparable to high end jackets we normally talk about, but $70 is such a low price for something like that, you can't really go wrong with it. New they're normally around $250-300.
I wouldn't know about rubbing a candle on leather, although it might work just fine, but the product I referenced above, Sno-Seal, is specifically formulated for use with leather and is normally used for waterproofing boots. I've used it on baseball gloves as well, and it's a product that I've...
The Arrow and the Gambler are the same pattern. Leather, lining may vary.
Thurston seems to be the only seller using the Gambler name as far as I'm aware, I don't know why they changed the name, probably marketing reasons.
Vanson will do customization. Call and ask for details.
Here's a few really nice Vanson jackets on Yahoo Japan Auctions:
1) This is a unique, possibly custom jacket in size 42. It looks like a LAPD/CHP jacket, but with a band collar. Has langlitz columbia and cascade vibes. Looks well used, nicely broken in. Size 42, about $500...
If it's real, it'll have a serial number embossed into the leather on the inside of the jacket somewhere, and Vanson can tell you it's authentic. I don't want to throw any more fuel on this fire, but to me the photos on the seller's listing look authentic enough. But I'm no expert. It'd be a...
If you know what you're looking for, and the listings provide enough information, that is.
High cost of shipping, wait time on shipping, and a general no returns policy combined with not usually being able to understand the response if you ask questions, if you receive a response, after...
My nearly two year search for this jacket is just about over. Now to wait a few weeks for DHL.
This one came up on yahoo japan auctions, and I quite randomly stumbled on it with 7 hours to go and 0 bids in. Oddly, it didn't come up when I searched for it with "mccoy leather jacket" but it DID...
Incoming. FOUND ONE! After searching for nearly TWO YEARS, one comes up on yahoo! Japan auctions in my size. According to the listing, it was a 2000 or 2001 model -- I don't know how long these were produced, but to find something that old in this condition is pretty much never going to...
This was just posted on social media by Langlitz. New model? It's not one I've seen before.
It's got kindof a J31 vibe, like someone crossed the Freewheelers Centinella with the Langlitz Columbia, and the main zipper design of the Cascade.
I'm not crazy about the dress collar, I think this...
It's really hard to tell without photos of course, but there is a difference before and after breaking in that could explain what you're noticing.
That said, measurements do vary from jacket to jacket, there's some margin of error when it comes to how they cut the panels and sew them...
You should email her anyway, it's more professional to actively seek out her help than to passively wait for her to notice that she's been mentioned :)
Thinking about it more, depending on how old the jacket is, Schott may be the best way to go. They might still have scraps of the original leather used, and if so that would be the way to go, assume they're willing to do the repair.
