Very impressive @ton312. That is a kickass coat!
Now get yourself a ‘70 340 4 spd Duster in lime green, with an 8 track, and your life will be complete. That jacket deserves ‘70 Mopar!
You apply Urad brown right on top of the top coat or is there more to it?
I called Vanson this morning and spoke to Kim. She said the jacket was probably built in 1989 and confirmed its comp weight. Embossed ID #’s came in early 90’s. Mine would have the # written with chalk inside under the lining.
Thanks! My luggage scale might not be very accurate but it did surprise me coming in at 4.5. The leather feels thick enough. To be honest I was surprised my Raid weighed the same because it feels like a tank.
Picked up my new to me Vanson Model C in size 44 today. According to the seller he’s the original owner, bought at Vanson in Boston in 1990.
No identifier # in the pocket so not sure when they started to stamp their jackets. Maybe someone here knows? All talon zips.
Previous owner says it’s comp...
I’ve got a ‘90 Vanson C in 44 on its way, I’ll be 2nd owner. Contrast stitching in brown comp weight. Doesn’t have the snaps on the belt loops but otherwise looks good.
Hope it fits!
Me thinks the jacket fits well. When I walked into the house after picking it up my supreme commander says “you bought another stupid jacket??……..ooh I like that one”!
Thanks @KBlake
The length looks fine for casual wear. If you rode, then it might be annoying unless as @JMax suggested you install a two-way zip. But you don’t ride so it’s a non issue.
You’ve got some room for layering too. With my Chopper it’s like a second skin so can only wear two thin layers, nothing...
I have a Vanson Oxford (9D) in a 42. Whidbey cowhide which is 1.5mm thick, same as Comp Weight. Carrie at TB assures me it’s their standard 42 measurements, no changes. Hope this helps @mumpy. I’ve got a custom Oxford on the way and used these measurements. Fits me perfectly at 5’10, 180, 42”...
