Thanks for this. I read the entire thread that began with the poll. Carrie told me the back piece isn’t cut on a curve so I’m hopeful I don’t have a problem wrt to bunching or bowing. As I said earlier, the Enfield has the one piece, and so does the Schott 689, an almost identical pattern.
I...
Further to this subject I just recalled I asked Carrie at TB if the one piece will affect the way the Oxford contours to the back and she said no it wouldn’t.
I’ve never heard that before and it would be interesting to hear from Enfield owners that ride, if this indeed is the case. Lots of MC jackets have one piece backs, some consider it a safety feature. My Vanson Raid is a one piece back for example. I added it for two reasons, to smooth out the...
The Oxford I have spec’d with TB has some minor changes. Still waiting for confirmation but it goes like this:
*comp weight, black
*move chest pocket from left to right side
*chest pocket slanted Enfield style
*red plaid lining
*double ended zip
*brass hardware
*remove centre seam on back panel...
@Canuck Panda
Ok thanks for the follow up and confirmation.
Had me worried as I sure didn’t want to find out about top stitching when my jacket arrives in the fall.
Regarding HH, I spoke to Mike van der Sleesen a couple years ago when I was buying Chopper and asked specifically about HH and...
@Canuck Panda
Wow! That is one nice jacket, well done!
You mentioned a couple things I’d like to follow-up on:
*Vanson still have horsehide available…is that an assumption or did someone at Vanson tell you that?
*The current Oxford doesn’t have as much top stitching finish. Have you seen a...
All my leather jackets stretch at the elbows to some degree. Some more, some less depending on the cut and leather. I think it looks good. Shows I know how to hoist a beer!
I bought a new Sheene in heavy natural CXL a couple years ago from TB. I’ve worn it 3x’s outside the house….just can’t get over the pressure on the back of my neck thing. And I have the creases from shoulder to arm pit that some get with this jacket. It’s a weird pattern, looks great but doesn’t...
@Canuck Panda I have pics of Z150 and it looks outstanding. Pics can be deceiving however and don’t illustrate the feel, heft of the leather. I do have relatively recent comp weight in a Chopper and like it. But I’ve seen pics of recent comp weight I wasn’t too sure about. Again, without...
@ton312 I was hoping you’d chime in as I knew you’d had experience with Bainbridge.
What about Z150? Any comments?
@Canuck Panda I’m modifying the jacket in a few areas and didn’t want to do that through Vanson directly. I know TB’s will deliver what I want.
I’d pretty much decided on comp...
Anyone take delivery of a Vanson recently in their Z150 leather? Working on a custom Oxford with TB and deciding between comp weight, Z150 or Bainbridge, all in black.
I’m curious how the current Z150 looks.
I’ve got a custom Oxford on the go with Carrie so was hoping to find a used E. I’m in no rush, something will pop up. I just bought the Raid so I’m good to take my time.
Yeah on Vanson sizing, as soon as I think I understand, I don’t.
A size 42 has 6.5” of ease. So 42+6.5=48.5/2=24.25
Is that...
I’m probably between a 42 and 44 … a P2P of 23-23.5 would work…22 would be too tight.
According to Vanson’s site the 42 will have a P2P of 24.25 but I don’t believe it.
