Ha ha, yup. It’s a perfect design for me. Casual, dress, and bike if I want. Just fits me well. Vanson Oxford in a 42 is spot on. Other Vanson’s I’ve gone with a 44 but Oxford in 42 needs no tweaks.
It’s an Oxford with an Enfield twist. Enfield style slanted front pocket but switched to my right side. Two inside pockets, horizontal and vertical, removed the back centre seam. Everything else is Oxford, except for the addition of a two-way zip.
The leather is very nice. Thick but soft...
I’ve got 6 Vanson’s in comp weight and every one is different. Four are thick and grainy, one is thick, flat and shiny, one is thick, dull and waxy. They range in age from 30 years old to now. All are excellent (haven’t held the latest yet). So not sure if I can answer your question 100%!

The best travel jacket I own and have travelled with is a Fjallraven Reporter Lite. Ten pockets, the sleeves detach to make it a vest, the sleeves store flat in a big pocket along the back. It’s rain and wind resistant if recently wax treated and it’s very light.

Good score!

I know wax is the best as others have pointed out but the conditioner...
I checked my B and Oxford and you are correct, same size. It’s the zip catching made me think it was narrower. I’ll lube up the zip and that should do it. Thanks!
Thanks for the comments fellas! My eBay jacket acquisitions always leave me feeling somewhat wanting. This time i can lay back, look at the ceiling and light a cigarette.
Obligatory fit pic after a hot water soak to custom fit. In this pic you can see what I meant about the wind flap being...
My new “to me” Comet arrived yesterday after taking a weird detour into southern Washington State.
Wow! What a beast!!
It’s a generous 44:
P2P 24
S2S 20
Sleeve 26.5
Hem 21
Length at back 25.5
Jacket is damn near perfect condition, no issues at all. Lining like new. Provision for a...
