Was Roughwear The Original Manufacturer Of The Iconic Hercules Jacket?

That buckle is like the ones Hercules models had (according to the catalogs) from 35-38, so mine is like a ‘38-‘39 what if model lol Here’s ‘35 and ‘39:

Was Roughwear The Original Manufacturer Of The Iconic Hercules Jacket?

Good catch, I’ve asked for them to be more vertical as I’m thinking to make this a sort of 1938 model. I’ve also asked for rounded cuff adjusters, a ball and chain chest pocket zipper, rectangle side strap buckles, and a plaid lining:

Was Roughwear The Original Manufacturer Of The Iconic Hercules Jacket?

Mismatched panels? Not the only one I’ve seen, albeit less extreme.

Was Roughwear The Original Manufacturer Of The Iconic Hercules Jacket?

All this talk of Hercules jackets made me want to go semi-custom so I’m having BK make me one. I’ve had some tags made up for it:

What's your opinions on cuff cinches?

I haven’t had a jacket with them yet but I think they look good. I wonder if they’ll get caught in a door handle but then again pant belt loops to sometimes too lol They look good on this Laskinlamb, I forget who posted it originally:

Lars Ulrich, late 80s? Cuff adjusters don’t look modern.

Catch & Release or keep: GW Modoc

Slightly too large but the slim jeans make it look larger than it really is. It’s not a bad vintage cut actually, some straighter fit pants would bring that out.

Definitely would love to handle that brown one in person and would love to see how the chrome tanned leather feels.

Finds and Deals - Leather Jacket Edition

There was a very nice Sterling horsehide and sheepskin barnstormer on eBay for a while but I never bit and now it’s gone, oh well! Always seemed a bit too small but I don’t see them lately.

Here’s some examples of J.C. Penney’s Sterling label, but as far as I know Sterling was a house sub-brand used by Penneys:

I’d say it probably is, the cuffs too are the ‘30s Hercules ones, this is a nice sort of cross between a car coat and the Herc double-breasted style:

    Freewheelers worth it

Technically you could have an independent pattern maker make the pattern and grading for you; if you’re experienced enough yourself you could also do it. However, the factories are pros at this so when in doubt you can provide your design, a vintage or other garment for reference, and...

    Freewheelers worth it

Brands do not necessarily do their own pattern work, an experienced pattern maker will do a better job. Often pattern makers work at or for the “factory” themselves (most sewing factories/workshops in Japan are quite small). I have clothing made for my brand in Japan so I know how I work, but...
