Here's some pics Bob. I have two of these hats and they're identical. There's nothing to indicate they're made in England. So, I'm going on this to think that these Bates hats aren't associated with he company in England.
Thank you, Bob, I really appreciate that information and I never would have even thought that. So, would I be right thinking this Bates is entirely different than the Bates hats from England?
Since I didn't get any info on my inquiry about the Bates hat I posted, perhaps someone could answer this one. I noticed an earlier post where someone posted pics of a hat from the Pilgrim hat company. I believe it was 1950s. One of the pics showed the liner with the cowboy on a bucking horse...
Does anyone have any info on this hat brand? I believe it's early 1960's but I can't find any information on it. It's not the same as the Bates hats from England, so that is not the place to post for info on this hat. The felt is very similar to an early Open Road with a 4 1/2" creased crown...
Thanks, I did after I posted the last question. Really wanted to verify that this particular hat was indeed a refurbished 1940's hat and by all indications, and done during that time period rather than what refurbishing referred to.
My observation tells me it's more likely 1940's rather than later due to several things. The size of the brim is more in line with that time period, the style of this Stratoliner compared to later models, the lettering in the embossed script is more in line with the 1940s and the fact that the...
Can anyone tell me if this is a factory script that the Stetson factory would do? I just purchased a 1940s Stratoliner and this is on the sweatband. I never saw this before and was wondering if anyone knows anything about it. I can't imagine a hat restorer doing this.
Thanks so much. The open crown height is 5". When I got it, it already had the shaped crown which brought it to the 4.5" that it is now. The mesh liner threw me off because it reads Royal Stetson like the script on the leather band. Glad you were able to clarify me on the date.
Just picked up this Stetson Stratoliner. Not sure of the year but I'm thinking 1960s. It has a rather tall crown of 4.5". At first I thought it was an Open Road until I found the tag under the sweatband indicating it to be a Stratoliner. Not sure when Stetson started using the little Stratoliner...
Just picked up this Adams hat which I believe to be 1950's. Could someone please verify what year it would be and also, is the longer felt such as this, unusual for these? Any helpful info would be greatly appreciated.
Wow! Very cool. Thanks Bob I really appreciate that. The pic of the store is fantastic! I was wondering the time frame on this as I bought it off of a lady whose grandfather was from Oklahoma. She thought it was earlier. That's some good info.
