You only turn 40 once so get yourself something nice. I think Johnson Leathers would be a great resource here because they can make any jacket that you could imagine. They also have the experience to shepard your project so that the end result fits well and looks good.
I have jackets that I have worn hard for years and I have never had one come apart like that. I would reach out to Schott and request a repair or exchange.
Boyo is spot on here. It feels more like a cashmere sweater than a leather jacket, and I’m not even joking about that. The sheen has dulled down with wear although a light coat of Pecards brings it right back.
I am very happy with this jacket but it is stupidly expensive and I will not pretend...
I think that very few of my jackets will look worn while they are in my possession, not many are worn much and some not at all. One exception is my IH horsehide riders jacket. The damn thing is so comfortable that I reach for it instinctively on my way out the door. An although it is designed...
Thank you @AbbaDatDeHat!
I too found this old chart very handy when buying my first couple Vanson jackets and the current sizing guide is a poor replacement in my opinion.
Stuart from LW wouldn‘t even offer me shoulder measurements because he says they are meaningless. I don’t know if I agree with him, but your recent experience certainly lends credit to his statement. There are a number of factors that determine fit, and P2P and shoulder width don’t tell the...

And Marc is correct that this is not unique to Aero. The Talon zipper on my heavy LW CHP gave out after about a year...
Truer words were never spoken! I have proven this to myself with hand tools, guns, and leather jackets. In almost every case I went back later and bought the item that I truly coveted from the beginning.
The naked cowhide from Johnson Leather is quite soft and wearable right out of the box. Most of their jackets are made for riding but they can make pretty much anything you might want and in this hide it would probably be in your budget.
