I think the jacket on the left looks terrible and I’m honestly surprised that those are the photos someone chose to market it with. I like the back of the jacket on the right although there seems to be a lot of excess leather.
I have to wonder if the leather on these jackets is really that...
And by the way, I don’t ride motorcycles, and I never have. I have worn that jacket on a mountain bike with a pair of engineer boots. That definitely earned me some chuckles from other cyclists!
I’m with you when it comes to belts and epaulets. I can handle belt loops but given the choice I eliminate them as well. This is a shot of my Langlitz Columbia when it was new back in 2017:
If I was smart I would have said game over right then and there because that jacket is perfect.
Not as many when you take into account that he wants an 8’ drop from chest to hem. I would recommend that you talk to the guys at Johnson Leather. They might be able to work something custom up for you for under $1500.
I think It is a nice turn of phrase, to say that something struck a chord in you. The more you post in this thread, the more I come to believe it. Of course it is natural to respond to others, that’s what we’re here to do right?
But all this talk of known members and gatekeepers and gestapo...
This thread seems to have struck a chord in you @blobsterroll and it seems like you are taking everything personally. I don’t think any of this is directed directly at you.
I’m sorry that somebody dissed you early on in your time here when you were just trying to buy a jacket from them but I’m...
Nobody bought the jacket on the lounge because another member had been following the eBay listing and brought it to everyone’s attention. And you’re absolutely right, as long as two consenting adults agree on a price, then a deal is a deal. I myself have paid more for jackets, guitars, guns...
I don’t think anybody is suggesting that you have to sell a jacket for a loss. Just that there is a spirit of camaraderie and so people will often turn around and sell a jacket they have bought here for exactly what they paid for it in order to give someone else a chance to enjoy that jacket...
I would not be happy to learn that someone had flipped something I’d sold them for a big profit but I wouldn’t get too worked up about it either. I apply the same mindset to this that I do when giving a gift: once it leaves my possession I have no right nor reason to expect that it be received...
Langlitz actually recommends their goatskin over cowhide for serious riders (as opposed to imaginary riders like myself). I got a chance to handle one of their goatskin Columbia’s when I was at their shop and it was quite substantial, not at all lightweight or flimsy.
