I want to try many vintage cafe races, Bates, Brooks, Cal, HD, but since my bad luck with fitting them I am a bit hesitant. Also being across in Australia basically guarantees a hefty shipping charge, and it's a bit annoying to sell it on as a result.
Also, I found personally nice cafe racer pattern is the hardest to nail for me, I tried Flat Head, Schott, and some others slipping my mind. Most of the time, they don't have a nice shape on my body especially with my less than ideal body shape. That's why I'm quite drawn to the Real McCoys...
This is really true, dismissing a whole country's output of leather jackets is doing yourself a disservice. I tried on many leather jackets in Japan and they all had different fits, while some were not for me, it's probably the perfect fit for another person. Don't knock it til you try it...
I would take the same size, but it fits tighter on me. I really like this jacket more than I expected I would after handling it in person. Personally for my fit preferences, I think it looks awesome from the front, but the back looks a touch loose, what are your thoughts?
Depends on the model...
I think I should really get a J-100, one of the few Japanese patterns that actually fit me well, it has a nice curvature at the waist and flares back out a little in a very flattering way. They look best tight t-shirt only fit too I think.
I find it very rare to find a nice taper at the waist from my experience with Japanese brands. If I get a jacket that is bang on my chest and shoulder, the waist is too wide and looks boxy.
Didn't want to buy one without trying it on at this price point, I was really close to getting the Tobacco Brown custom order from Barnstormer though because the leather was so nice.
Also I read this on their Instagram post:
It's crappy Instagram machine translation so may be incorrect, but...
Yeah, on my trip I found out I'm a 42 in Real McCoys and Flat Head, but Rainbow Country seems to run a bit smaller so not sure if I'm a 42 or 44... Wish I was able to try them. I also tried on a Freewheeler Centinela in 44 and that looked awesome but unzippable lol!
I hope next time I return...
So nice! I want to throw my hat in the ring for one of these as well, was meant to try one on last month but they ran out of stock...
Did you order from Mushmans?
This D-pocket I tried is full aniline, my issue was it seemed very flat. It softened up reasonably well, I looked and felt the owner's jacket which was used for like 3 years or so, but even with the aging it still looked relatively flat and plasticky in my opinion. He also held it side by side...
Is this the semi-aniline finish? I was very impressed with that leather when I saw them in their Tokyo store, really beautiful and lot of colour depth. The full-aniline not so much, looked very flat to me even after seeing the owners wearing sample. I also had the same issue on fit though with...
For this jacket/style of fastening yes. But as I said before, if there is a gap in the sleeve on a denim jacket, it would look much better and be very usable. Also note that the buttons on this RMC are offset (the tighter button is lower rather than being centered) so it also enhances this weird...
Here's how they looked on my RMC Mobster, not the best, for this style where it just closes the wrist cuff it's better to get something that matches your width preference on the original button.
For something that has a cuff with an opening that goes down the arm a bit, like on a denim jacket...
Asked for some more photos and confirms my suspicions, some puckering looks like heat damage or something with a hole on the right pocket. Threw in a low ball, but it got rejected, but the condition is still too crusty for me so I will bow out.
Yes, I think it was originally black. I wonder what's happened to make it green, the side panels are green and the arms but the main panel looks mostly fine. Looks dry and crusty, mould?
Flathead, Real McCoy's and Schott
Probably the nicest jackets I was able to try in Japan, also found out I'm a 42 and not 44 like I had thought... (Probably a 44 in some of the smaller fitting brands). I didn't end up buying any, was hoping to get a Rainbow Country but it sold the week before I...
