What hat are you waiting for today?

I don't think it's probably any later than the mid 1950"s and could be a late 40's hat, not sure. Anyway, a nice hat!

    The School of Hard Knox

1950's Knox Forty. Has 1 7/8 inch brim and 5 1/2 inch open crown. I suppose this hat might be pre-1955 since Knox came out with their Knox Fifty in 1955. The mfg tag says the block depth is 5 3/4 inches.

    Western, anyone?

Thanks a lot. I was hoping it would be a winner, but it surpassed my hopes. As soon as my fingers touched the felt, the immediate impression I got was of a Stetson 100 or Stetson 7X from the same period.

    Western, anyone?

La Salle beaver Western style hat. Has 3 inch brim and 6 inch open crown. It seems to be a Pure Beaver hat, although it doesn't say that exactly but seems to say it indirectly. I'm guessing it dates to the mid 50's to early 60's. La Salle was the same company that made Champ hats.

    French Hats and makers.

Stefan was kind enough to sell this hat to me. Feels like a French Whippet to me. 2 1/2 inch brim and 6 inch open crown.

    1989 Rand's 8X. Has 4 7/8 inch brim and 6 3/4 inch open crown.

What hat are you waiting for today?

Stingy brim Knox Forty. Anyone who knows me knows I'm not a real fan of short brimmed hats, but Knox Fortys come up for sale so seldom that I had to get this one. I think the brim is like 2 inches.

    The Cavanagh Club

Cavanagh Montego Planter, 2 1/2 inch brim. The sweatband is too dry for me to look for mfg tags right now.

    "Uncontested - The Champ"

Thanks, guys. I was lucky to get it, even though it's small, but the seller estimated its size even smaller so that almost nobody would have bought it, but I figured he was wrong about the size, which turned out to be the case.

    "Uncontested - The Champ"

Champ Supreme, 4X Quality, 100 percent White Coney. Has 2 3/4 inch brim and 5 1/2 inch open crown. No mfg tags. I know Champ was said to be a step down in quality from the major brands like Knox and Dobbs, etc, but if you told me this was a $15 or $20 hat when sold, I wouldn't doubt it for a...

    Stetson Sweat Stamps/ LOT XXXX

    Stetson No. 1 Quality

Stetson Number 1 Quality. Has 3 1/4 inch brim and 7 inch open crown. Lot Number 7479, so dates to late 1930's to 1940-41. There were no mfg tags in the hat. This hat is fairly similar to my Hap Corey hat on this same page. One additional note about the hat: I noticed that there were no original...

    Langenberg / Beaver Brands

The Kingsbury Hat, 15X Pure Beaver Quality, that's for sale on eBay now. It's listed as a Rand's hat, but was sold or worked on at Rand's and has a Rand's liner.

What hat are you waiting for today?

La Salle western hat, the only cowboy type La Salle I've come across. Said to have 3 inch brim and 6 inch open crown. The seller interprets the sweatband writing to mean this is a pure beaver hat.
