After going back through this entire thread again to refresh my memory, I see a hat on pg 14 of the thread with Lot Number 7710 that's dated Nov 1941. So hats with high 7000s Lot Numbers that I've tried to cram into being made in or before 1940 may actually have been made in 1941 or 1942, it...
Yes, the vertical logo and that texture or design that's stamped into the sweatband leather itself are what hinted to me that it was early and might actually be a WW1 hat.
Stetson Number 1 Quality Campaign hat, Lot Number 4780. I estimate the hat dates about 1921 based on a hat with Lot Number 5066 that has a 1922 date on it's hatband, on pg 15 of the Stetson Lot Number thread.
Stetson Number 1 Quality Campaign hat. Lot Number 4780. I haven't estimated a date for it yet, but it might be a little later than I was hoping for. I was hoping it was a WW1 hat. The smaller mfg tag is one of those brown tags or some obviously lighter colored tag than the other. After going...
Shudde Bros hat, about early 1950's. Has 2 7/8 inch brim and 5 1/2 inch open crown. Very soft felt. Photos are as hat just received. Needs a good cleaning. Has no mfg tags, which is normal with these hats
Resistol needing some love. Has 3 3/4 inch brim and 5 inch open crown. The mfg tag is so faint or washed-out that the last pic shows a tag of the same type that's legible and is from my Resistol Ten, which is a hat from the era of the weird shaped "O". The felt on this hat is extremely soft, the...
Stetson Number 1 Quality "The Fray" that's on eBay now. It's being claimed to be a military hat from about the 1880's. I have no idea if true, but the sweatband and Stetson logos look just like Stetsons from the early 20th Century.
Stetson Number 1 Quality. I'm guessing it's a late 1930's hat. The sweatband looks like a hot mess, but I think the hat has potential, once I get it reshaped to suit me.
I'm always glad to see The Hatted Professor make an appearance on The Lounge and getting a Thumbs-Up from him makes me feel like, at least occasionally, I'm on the right track, in spite of what my critics may think.
Lo and behold! I happened to find an extra ribbon for a straw boater laying around my house that someone sent me along with some hat I bought in the past, and this ribbon fits my Disney perfectly, although it's not exactly historically accurate. So at least my Disney is wearable now!
