Marcel, The felt color and finish are super. Same with the components and the overall workmanship. The location of Botta. Salorino Ticino, Switzerland, was not far from Intra / Ghiffa, Italy so there could possibly be a connection.
Marcel, Thank you for posting your Botta here. Sorry I missed your mention in "Post New Hats Here". I will be on the look out for more info on Botta than what is posted here. Need more Swiss Hats! :)
Echter Borsalino "Qualita Superiore" "Fico" "Lama" date stamped May 18, 1929. The felt has a very soft hand and is light in weight. The band is very wide with an interesting bow design. The sweatband and silk liner are of the highest quality. The Berlin store / hat company (Max Eckard) that...
Randall, Thank you again! Yes they can light up in the sunshine. This is a striking Velour finish called "Platin". I left this hat (it's a small size) with Graham Thompson of Optimo Chicago. We had a meeting at his production facility a couple years ago to discuss specialty finishes. I also...
Randall, Thank you! Super Excellent Quality Bowler from you today! The 1950s Borsalino Velour is very high quality Real Velour. The pre WWII Austrian Velour was the finest Real Velour. I would say J. Hückel´s Söhne / JHS was at the top. Technically JHS were in Czechoslovakia after WWI...
Echter Velour - Soleil, possibly late 1920s early 1930. This is only marked Soleil Velour that I have encountered. The Velour is fantastica and is extreme Zephyr weight so super pliable. There is no factory mark so a mystery hat. It has very wide band and with semi Bat Wing Bow. I found...
Josef Pichler & Söhne Hut - Fabrik, Graz "Flexible", possibly 1930s and a recent arrival.
Kaiser König Hof - Hut - Fabrik Josef Pichler & Söhne, Postcard possible early 1900s. I found this postcard back in 2012.
Greg, Thank you! Yes, the sweatband is reeded on both sides. German and Austrian Stiff Felt Hats often have such sweatbands. The reed on the outer side of the sweatband creates a cushioning effect.
Hutfabrik Josef Pichler & Söhne, Graz "Flexible", FP 5 3/4, possibly 1930s. Old Hutfabrik Josef Pichler & Söhne, Graz hats are not common especially in my size. I believe this is Fur Felt with a Chamois like finish. Based on the condition it must not have been worn often. Also a FP quarter size...

Stefan, Super find. Those are the same manufacture as the ones I remember. Some of them had Dermotta Wien and the sellers (I believe on Etsy and Ebay) were out of the Czech Republic and Cypress. Here is the link. You can keep scrolling down. There are a few related posts...
Here is some info I found a while ago about Bohemians wearing black wide brim Austrian Velour Hats.
Wyndham Lewis (1930) wearing a black wide brim Austrian Velour in such a manner.
