I have a C2, which is a great jacket, and fits very well. I have not handled a Thunderbird, but I do like that it has a solid back without the center seam of the C2. I also like that it has solid belt loops (no snaps). But I like the brass hardware on the C2.
Of the two, they are both very...
I do agree that it looks terrible. I tend to be optimistic, and knowing how terrible my first efforts at things are, I can look at this and say "it's a start". I don't see things that can't be addressed and improved. If Nicks can respond to criticism and rise to the challenge and get better...
The vibe I get from these and Vanson's model photos are: "Hey we don't need to pay a model. I'm good looking. I don't need to hire a photographer. I have a camera. I don't need to make a custom fit jacket for the model, this one on the shelf is about my size, it'll show how it looks. And the...
That's not even the worst looking fit pic of the jacket that I've seen. (I say fit pic because I would hate to consider what these guys are doing to be "modeling" the jacket.)
I remind myself that this is in its infancy, that what they're doing is baby steps. That they will have to learn to...
Wear it more, and continue breaking in the leather. There's no going back. It will look fine once it's fully broken in.
When stored on the hanger, keep it zipped, and consider stuffing the shoulders and sleeves to fill them out. Swimming pool noodles work well for this. And use a proper, wide...
Nicks Boots has been a highly regarded maker of PNW-style boots for something like 60 years.
This weekend they launched their first(?) foray into leather jackets, an all-leather version of their canvas Patriot jacket that they introduced last year. Their early bird price is $995, a discounted...
I don't accept the premise of the question. Schott is generally well regarded here. But there is a diversity of opinions among members of the forum, and different people have different tastes as well as different needs, expectations, and experiences. So of course some people don't like them...
Same here. They said 4oz leather, I would have been pissed if what I got wasn't good, heavy 4oz leather. Well I guess I can scratch Legendary off my list of vendors to watch. Very disappointing.
Here are the listing photos from the ebay auction. They are, as you can see, in amazing condition, appearing to me unworn. They did not come with any box or tags.
These are RO Search made, and date to 1981 according to the listing info. 8W.
I tried them on and sadly I need an 8.5W or maybe a...
There were only 100 pre-order slots. Our size relative to that number is not inconsequential.
After we started canceling our orders the reaction on the part of Legendary indicated that it got their attention.
Here's an update. My freewheelers wallet got wet when I got caught in a heavy rain. I let it air dry and then applied Pecard to the outside. The veg tanned leather got stiff when dry so it definitely needed it. It's nice now, and darkened, contrast with the inside to see what it was like before...
The pig leather I've seen has had huge pores that didn't look attractive, or else pebble grain like a football. But that stuff you used for the wallet looks really nice. Good grain and color.
Be patient. Take a year, or two, buy a few off the shelf jackets used that have features you're interested in. Wear them, decide what you like, take notes. Take notes on everything from design to fit/measurements.
If you don't find exactly what you want after all that in an existing jacket...
