The bigger issue will be when people do go to look at a used Black Stallion in the future, there's going to be questions as to which version it is, the Schott or the EDSIM. And that will cause confusion that will make them harder to sell to buyers who know what they're looking for enough to be...
I wouldn't have had a problem with it if they were still made by Schott, to identical spec. Otherwise, yeah I tend to agree. They need to display and represent the product accurately.
It sounds like they lost a lot of business in a couple days and now they're in panic mode. The change in their cancelation policy doesn't help their image any.
Thank you, and I agree. I won't and can't say that Legendary had any kind of nefarious intent with the way they went about this, so I do feel like calling their business practice "shady" isn't quite right, but I know what you're getting at. I would call it "borderline at best".
It's easy for...
I agree, that would have been the better way to go.
If they were thinking it worked like the OEM car parts contractor analogy I mentioned above, well I guess by now that they have some evidence that it doesn't work that way with leather jackets.
Update (replying to my own post, past the 10k character limit):
I posted this BEFORE catching up with the thread. So we think it's EDSIM that's making this batch? I've never heard of them before, and I have no idea what they are like. Their website looks they are a generalist fashion leather...
I just chatted with Ren at Legendary USA again.
He confirmed a few things for me:
1. Schott NYC is NOT the maker of this run of the Black Stallion.
2. They are unable to disclose the maker, but did say that it is made in the USA.
3. Despite what it says above in Aloysius's screen capture...
The model number of the Black Stallion is 696H. Scott's 689H is a different pattern, center zip, similar to the Vanson Enfield. Schott has used both H and HH suffixes to denote horsehide leather.
Just to throw in on the sizing debate, the new limited edition Black Stallion sizing chart suggests I would want to go with a 42, and their 44 would be too big. The one I have is a 44, and I think it fits me fine. Wouldn't want to guess whether they changed the sizing for this new batch, but...
I'm not very familiar with them at all, but Lewis Leathers makes a style called the Lightning in a few variants which this reminds me of a lot. I'm not sure what other makers do their MC jackets in this style with the pocket configuration shown, but I believe that there are a few European...
I'll weigh mine too, and if I can find my thickness gauge I'll measure it as well, but I'd expect these new ones to come in a bit heavier. I'd be surprised if what I have is 3.5oz/1.4mm.
Update: With the belt and removable collar on, mine weighs in at 6.5 lbs exactly. I didn't weight it...
Heads up, everyone.
I just got an email from ebay notifying me that they had automatically enrolled me in their "new" International Shipping Program.

I haven't read this yet; no idea how it's different from the...
Some interesting stuff...
When I search Legendary USA's website for "black stallion" I get two results:
The $1300 model, sold out, looks like it has a plaid lining, different from the black diamond quilt lining (nylon/polyester?) in the $918 version.
$918 is super reasonable for a HH...
Well now doesn't that just figure.
About 10 years ago was the last time this was made
I recall them being on clearance at $250 at the end, marked down from $550, and I could have gotten one then but at the time my opinion of Schott horsehide was that it was too thin and too plastic KY looking...
