You make some good points - I think the main interest for many is the open crown.
For myself, I like the look of the Miller Douglas, but they have a no refund policy. I won't buy a hat on the internet that I can't return. It's the same issue with ordering a Campdraft from Oz, too expensive to...
And the right demeanor
Yeah, that sounds right --- you'd have to be a tough old m*&?f!@* to pull that hat off. Of course a pretty girl could have her way with it....
Now that you mention it....
Since I asked this question, I've been re-reading some threads and came across a few prior comments about the poor quality of the felt on this hat. The only upside would be that LLBean would take any hat back with no questions, so one could roll the dice and see...
A similar hat
Noggintops has an almost identical hat called the Bear Creek:

It's Sovereign felt, which has a soft, comformable texture and is probably higher quality than the Bean hat - different color, though. The description talks about a comfort...
Fair enough, my Chatham has some ripples in the brim as well. I guess I'll wait to see if the Open-Crown-Open-Road arrives. I find I prefer a welted or bound brim these days anyway...
Looking good
Skyvue, you're looking good in that Sydney, I'm glad it went to a good home. It's originally from Noggintops (on sale now, btw). At the time I listed it for sale, I included some photos - they're done with and without flash, with and without bash, and give a good idea of the...
Very pretty
I myself would prefer 2-1/2", if that makes it a modern Stratoliner, that's fine by me. But I would pull the trigger equally quickly on a 2-3/4" brim. It has to come in size 7-3/4 for me --- But I'll wager there's at least a dozen big-head guys on this forum who will jump on an...
Hi Topdog - here's a recent thread where the fate of the Bencraft Nostalgia was discussed:

It sounds like Besdor sent their order back as flawed and declined to order more, but ordered the new Whippet for the fall. The Whippet appears to...
GTD - if you get the Douglas, I hope you'll post your impressions - I'm interested but am not there yet....
On another thread, HATCO hinted &/or entertained the idea that it might be possible to get ahold of the current model at some point in the production pre-stiffener and open crown. This...
I like it - it looks like a Burberry-type to me. If that secondary color is brownish, you could wear the jacket with brown or taupe trousers, maybe even tan. I bet it would also work with jeans and no tie, although I don't wear (or have) jeans myself anymore.
