An excellent suggestion --- I say that because in fact, I have 2 Ashlands from you already. One in dark brown that my wife picked out in the store, and a caribou I picked up later because I liked the first one so much. To be fair, you weren't in the shop either time so we haven't met, and you...
I reviewed my Brewster on a recent thread - here it is:
http://www.thefedoralounge.com/showthread.php?t=45471
The second photo (taken with a flash) shows the silk finish fairly close to how it looks in daylight. It's a beautiful felt, more pliable than a Chatham, e.g., but it does have a shine...
Coda
Well I wound up returning the Brewster --- the brim was just too wide and the silk finish was too shiny for my taste. A beautiful lid, but it wasn't for me. So, there's a size 7-3/4 Brewster in stock now at Sterling Leather - they were great to deal with, by the way.
If it's as nice as the Brewster (also from the Moderno collection) then it should be a nice lid. I like the contrast stitching and the smallish brim - the bash isn't to my taste. I couldn't really deal with the silk finish of the Brewster, but there's no doubt that the felt was very nice. I...
Here's a thread by Marvelgoose - he had Optimo renovate a modern Stetson Chatham to good effect. Before and after photos are in there.

Seems reasonable. However, I note that gray wolf are a natural predator of caribou, so maybe Stetson Caribou is based on the coat of a gray wolf that's lately been dining on caribou...
Scott, I can't tell - did you have a good or bad experience with a Chatham?
Re: modern Stetsons:
My Chatham has some brim rippling issues akin to Avedwards. I plan to have it bound if I can get it together to pick a color and a hatter. Luckily I prefer bound or welted brims to begin with.
My...
I'm right there with you on this one - I would not accept this lack of precision from my students. Did the chart makers not have access to a calculator?
No chart needed - just a calculator:
(hat size) x (Pi) = Circumference
Which is to say, your hat size is the hydraulic diameter of your head ( Hat Size = Circumference / Pi )
The stitches are about as obvious as the stitching on the Stylemaster. And, I concur completely, the logo will go PDQ if I decide to keep it --- I advertise for no one...

4 weeks less 1 day from order to delivery. Bencraft has it in stock, but at a higher price point.
True what you say about texture, etc. Truth is, we should be talking about Stetson Profile 10, which is their standard 4" tall teardrop crown - this includes Chatham, Downs, Brewster, Ashland, Hampton and more, with different felt grades, brim widths and brim finishes. Based on the feel of my...
I thought I read somewhere that it is Sovereign quality, but don't remember where, and there is literally nothing on the sweatband. It feels softer, more pliable and thinner than my Sovereign Chatham. Can't say about the durability, obviously, but it is fur felt after all - time will tell...
Received my Stetson Brewster from Sterling Leather yesterday - took some pictures this morning:
First impressions - overall the build quality is very good. The felt is thin, very soft and pliable - nicer and finer quality than my other Sovereign hat (Chatham). Much nicer than my...
Wow
That is a truly swell-egant upgrade - nice idea to use the ribbon colors from a vintage lid. Time to decide how to modify my sage Chatham - still thinking of having it turned into a small-scale OR. Worth & Worth is a short subway ride away, but the work done by Optimo on yours is making me...
