I've always been partial to the Russet Goat, Love that reddish brown. As far as durability, goatskin is a very durable leather and I'm sure GW gets some nice hides!
I just shipped a jacket to Aero, and went with Global Priority(USPS)and it cost me apprx.$92.00. I also was thrown back a little by the prices ($200.00-UPS), but this seemed to be the cheapest trackable way. It was also a little hard to track but I finally got it!
I don't know what you mean by "Vintage". It is not truely old but it is real mouton and looks vintage. It is also smaller sized like the originals were!
The G-1 was always one of my favorite jackets. In 1980 my wife had a friend in the marines who got her a G-1 for me for Christmas. At that time you could not just pick one up as easily as now. One of the best X-mas presents ever, and I wore it for years-but sadly grew out of it. I still have it...
Well that is a leather G-1 and he definately had more than one. I'm sure he wasn't worried about getting it wet, he probably just grabbed what was quickly available at the time. I do wonder if the one in the auction was the one he was originally issued and had the Presidential patch sewn on later!
I'm just glad that there are companies like Aero that IS making these style jackets, and you are able to customize your jacket to your personal tastes. As I said before, the competition is good for us consumers and we can make the choice of who we want to deal with!
