Thankfully I haven't found myself wanting a bunch of turquoise jewelry.
Some folks like Charley Crockett for example and pull it off, but I can't and am not much for jewlery.
Btw you said you've got a pioneer wear jacket ?
How do you feel about the quality?
I was thinking this morning about what sparked my interest in getting a suede jacket, I just couldn't figure out what exactly sparked my interest.
Eventually it dawned on me.
This is why I found myself wanting a suede jacket.
I have about 9 of Charley's albums and music city USA has been one...
I did a bit of minor research and found that the pioneer wear trademark was issued in 1948 and expired never to be renewed in 1988.
I'd guess this vest is probably from the 70's.
I've been wanting to find myself a nice vintage suede trucker , but beyond the suede vest I just scored on Ebay I'm not sure I'll be owning much suede.
I definitely have no desire for suede when it comes to footwear, rough out is great and really tough when it comes to working boots but not suede.
Recently I started thinking about the suede vest I had when I was a kid and kind of wanting another one.
I went looking on Ebay, and I just found this Pioneer wear suede vest at a price I couldn't pass up.
For $16+ shipping I can't really loose.
I think it's a pretty cool classic western...
Today I did a test run adding a fur collar to my Taylor's Chicago PD.
The collar I found on Ebay is too big and I don't think I can make it work (I just attached it with some black hockey tape as a test ), but I do like it much more with the faux fur collar and feel it's worth spending more...
I know absolutely nothing about this jacket or any of the brands mentioned in this thread, but I just couldn't help but notice that this jacket looks like a burnt hot dog.
A crispy charred black hot dog is exactly what this reminds me of.
You may like a USGI OG-108 wool field shirt.
The earlier ones are thicker and supposedly nicer, but lately I've been wearing a 1977 example that I recently got NOS surplus and have really been happy with it.
They can be had for about $30 and are a great value, though you may have to go over it...
Could be, but that wouldn't really work for me.
For me a Jack shirt is a mid layer not an outer layer, because they don't have hand pockets and that's a no-go for me when it comes to outer layers.
I just found a blauer collar on Ebay for $11+ shipping.
It's 5 inches longer than my jackets collar, but for the price I'll find a way to make it work.
I thought there was usually a 3rd snap in the middle of the collar ?
On my jacket the ends of the collar snap down, I don't know if they were intended to also be utilized for a mouton collar or not ( it is a police jacket ) but the appropriate sized snap attached to the whatever collar I find...
Thanks for the pictures.
The thing I most needed to understand was how these collars artached never having actually seen one.
For some reason I pictured it being just a loose flap that snapped on.
Seeing that it has a pocket that the jackets collar fits into, I am no longer concerned about...
you'd have a different opinion if it was 115°f in the summer and you didn't have AC.
Maybe carpenter shorts aren't particularly cool, but I need the pockets and the hammer loop comes in handy ( I don't like my stuff flopping around loosely in cargo pockets, so I don't wear cargo shorts)
And the...
I just took a gamble on this Penny's Big Mac wool jacket, for $50 shipped maybe it'll have some decent wool or at least thickness but it should still be worth it even if the wool is mediocre.
The pictures aren't great, but they were good enough to see the 70's era Talon zipper.
The pocket...
For fishing I like them, but beyond that I carry everything in my pockets.
I used to wear one when I'd go to amusement parks with my dad as a kid but I don't like amusement parks anymore so that's done.
Crocs or " shower shoes" as I call them , any sneakers that aren't a classic low top , sweat pants, pajamas in public, athletic shorts ( I need a belt and good pockets ), suits or any kind of formal wear / dress cloths.
Funerals are an exception for wearing dress cloths but I don't wear a tie...
