Safty Razors
I agree with all the shaving stuff that has be said above. Also, to reiterate, no pressure on that razor! :D
I find I get a MUCH better shave with a DE than with a modern multi-bladed razor. I really enjoy using a brush and cream/soap (I use both) with it. There is nothing...
All about shaving
I would also recommend another message board that has connoisseurs of wet shaving on it. www.badgerandblade.com
Lots of good information on there and you can hit their Review section and read the reviews of multiple razors, shaving brushes, shaving soaps and creams, etc...
I have the answer
I grew up in Houston. You should wear it here: http://www.menil.org/ on your first outing. Then head over to Rudyards for a beer. They are at: 2010 Waugh Drive
Houston, TX 77006. I used to haunt both places before there was a "World Wide Web." Go figure... I didn't even know...
Living in the 80's
+1
OMG, we could be brothers. I've worn very similar outfits in the 80's as well (I'm 41). I remember the same outfit but with a different colored tie.
BTW, I LOVE oxblood colored shoes! But, they seem to be hard to find in the past couple of years.
I didn't...
Hat
Mr. Avedwards,
It sounds like you are smart and creative, and wearing a hat is an outward expression of that. I was in high school from 1982 to 1986. My grandfather wore Stetsons until the day he died. He always had, I think it was called, an Open Road (it looks kind of like LBJ's hat)...
OMG, how cool
Ok, sort of off topic. :offtopic:
I used to live here with an old girlfriend in the early 1990's.

It was a great little one bedroom with hard wood floors and glass bricks in the small breakfast area. I LOVED that place...
Wow
Great links!
I grew up in Houston and I've seen many a movie at the River Oaks Cinema. My mom used to work at a soda fountain right across from Lamar High School (in the 50's I believe). There used to be a little bar called "Marfrales" (spelling?) around the corner of the cinema. It...
Low key
+1
I think using one or two period pieces with the rest of your outfit is the key. However, it also depends on the occasion. I would wear a flat cap, jeans, workshirt, and vintage work boots (or reops thereof) just out and a bout in my daily work. I would also roll up my jeans to...
A real target
Not to mention, the guy is a Master Sargent with is rank plastered all over the front of his helmet. Did they do that in WW2? That would make a hell of a target. You always shoot the bird with the most feathers first.
Cute Hats
I'm going to copy and paste this link and email it to my wife. She is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cute in hats!!
But, alas, she doesn't think she looks cute in them and doesn't wear them. All you ladies...
Ok, I think this may be it...
I have narrowed it down to three hats (edit: four hats)
Stetson Nostalgia, Caribou Gray with a black ribbon
Akubra Bogart, in moonstone, the dark gray is too dark.
Akubra Stylemaster, moonstone (gray) with black ribbon
Stetson Margate would be perfect in...
Thanks that's good advice. I'm hoping to wear it about five out of seven days. I'm thinking on Saturdays and probably four days a week. I'm going to get a gray with black band for my first hat and I have a suit or two that that color combo won't match.
Quick question for the group.
I wear a long oval in Resistol cowboy hats. I've noticed that none of the dress hats seem to have a long oval, they are sort of one shape.
I'm assuming that this is because they end up fitting you head after wearing it a few times?
I read on this thread...
Bogart
I noticed that the Akubra Bogart has the same bashing at the Stetson Margate. anyone have any thoughts on the Bogart?
My head is really spinning. I'm going to have to buy two.
I think I'll let my wife buy me one upon my return, and try to get another one for my birthday.
