    "Band of Brothers" hero's passing...

As a minister I have conducted funerals for many WW2 vets over the years. All of them were modest about their contributions as soldiers/sailors. None bragged about their accomplishments. Some of them shared their experiences with me before they died, and I am truly grateful. They were truly...

Rank and Patches on Military Jackets - Might I Offend a Veteran?

Widebrim says it clearly and with brevity. There is really nothing more to discuss.

    My Golden Era Job!

Having a job where one may deal with the public(although that may not be often considering your hours)can be enjoyable. Of course, your schedule does not allow your to linger for any long time, but a few cheerful words can make one's day(or night).

    Britain building new steam locomotives

My wife and I took a ride behind a Canadian National 2-6-2 from Scranton to the Delaware Water Gap and back at the end of June. The engine only does this trip twice a year. Since the track is an active freight line the owner limited the speed to around 25mph(not an exciting ride). On the way...

DEFECT OPiNiONS: Would U return this jacket???

To err is human, to forgive is divine. Yes, if they "repent" and make right there is no need to reveal the company name.

    Our own vintage town

Somehow the descriptions remind me of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town" which would also include the inevitable personal losses. No matter where we go, the reality of life(tragedy, sickness, etc.) cannot be escaped.

Boy recalls past life as a fighter pilot

Not to spin this into a theological discussion, since the story is really beyond any rational explanation, but if you believe in God then anything is possible. No human beings can put limitations on God. If God wants to "recycle" souls who is to say otherwise? I can say that as an ordained...

    First original A2!

Good going on acquiring the A-2. I hope you didn't have to take out a loan to afford it. As for the patch, if the holes are obvious then find a suitable replacement as close to the original as you can tolerate and sew it on, or have someone who sews leather do it for you. Good luck!

Boy recalls past life as a fighter pilot

There was a film made in the 1950's about a boy who was the reincarnation of a WW1 pilot who was shotdown. The boy had a natural inclination to fly and became an airline pilot. An elderly woman gets on one day and the pilot's memory is jarred to recalling more of the WW1 pilot's life. It...

    Golden Era Building Materials...

Those abandoned home photos are quite sad. If those old walls could talk there would be quite a few stories to tell, some worthy of being made into films, no doubt. As far a building materials go, they have already been mentioned for the most part. One important feature is that the framing...
