Great tribute to the Greatest Generation. Several years ago some friends rounded up WW2 vets and took them by van to Reading Airshow's WW2 Weekend. The senior citizens really appreciated the effort. They also shared priceless memories. In a few years we will run out of these fine...
Outstanding brown boots. Museums would love to get ahold of them. If your other pairs are anywhere near as well preserved as they are it is truly an awesome collection. Thanks for the photos.
As we age our bodies usually add some girth. It wasn't only WW2 vets who were trim. My 1970's Navy dress blues(officer) size 37 jacket and 29inch waist would only fit if I starved myself. Yet a 33 size trousers is not impossible to find in WW2 original. My late father in law's WW2 Ike jacket...
Windsock-Touching story. Cherish those conversations with the remaining vets. BTW- My (late) relatives who were WW2 vets had no problem with re-enactors in authentic uniforms as long as it was for education and non-

Great history lesson. Makes one think how tragic wars are and how few people really benefit. All it takes is a few power hungry leaders to bring misery to millions.
Thank you Andrew for the Monarch photo. It is truly a prize, and the fit looks just right. Enjoy and may you continue to happen upon such fortunate finds.

Photos of the old steam engines are always appreciated. It is a shame that too many of the classic engines were completely eliminated when diesel took ove. Fortunately there are a good number of preserved "iron horses" in the US. The British are to be admired for having had the foresight to...
Leaette,
Sounds like you are fairly young, so there will be many more opportunities at re-enactments. Perhaps by June your little one will be hearty enough to travel to the WW2 Reading Air Show. It is always good to hear enthusiasm about historical re-enactments from the post-boomers. May...
Once again, Andrew's explanation of additional details provides enlightenment.
Everyone who reads this forum should truly appreciate having a real historian who knows how to present information. Thanks again.
If you really like the jacket , get it. I have seen this model up close and it is not the cheapest construction for imitation A2s. It may last a long time if you don't rough house alot. Merry Christmas.
