Thanks for the advice ladies!
This is OT but I love Kevin's books as well: especially when he made up celebrities into other celebrities (can't remember which that was, they aren't with me atm). There are such great tips for getting the vintage look in his books, I recommend them to anyone who...
Thanks for the tips all. I'm testing out different types of pomade & hairspray. It's not that bad, but it can get annoying (maybe it's my post-lunch cat naps messing up my hair...hmm). I do use end papers, so the ends aren't very hooky.
Thanks! I was actually considering going into makeup...
Hello StrayKitten from a fellow Albertan (I actually did a little happy dance when I saw that you're from Calgary)!
My hair was about your length when I started doing my hair in rollers, and I found that I really liked how they looked. If you happen to buy the Goody ones (I got mine at Wal-mart...
Frizz Control
I need some advice for frizz control. As it starts to get warmer and I'm outside more, I find my hair is getting frizzier. While Alberta is far from humid, it can get really dry and windy here and its wreaking havoc on my hair!
Here is what my style looks like the average...
Miss Sis that picnic set is to die for! And what a wonderful bathing suit, I love the colour.
There are so many pretty things in this thread; it's becoming dangerous territory because as soon as I'm in here I get that shopping itch (I've already been eyeing up a few new pairs of wedges for...
Cute hat deadpandiva! Great for summer, I'm looking at getting one for myself for this summer as well.
Indeed I bought a lot of stuff today, but only one of them is true vintage so I'll just post that. I got my first train case! 1955, still in great shape aside from some colour bleeding on...
About a month ago I picked up 'How to Sew A Button' by Erin Bried. I don't know if anyone else has read it but I heartily recommended it! I posted a review on my blog if anyone is interested.
I'm also reading The Great Gatsby for the second time around. The first time I read it was middle...
Lady Margaret Comet-Carmichael - that's going by the road in front of the hospital I was born in.
OR
Lady Margaret Comet-Dewar - the (grid) road I grew up on.
Let's pretend the Comet from pronounced Com-ay and not that how it actually is, like the cleaner :D
This is a funny thread for me, since part of my duties at work is to take photos of strangers all the time. It's a hard balance, because I really hate set-up shots because even if readers don't know they're faked, I KNOW. But at the same time I know how awkward it can be photographed without...
EDIT: it's up now! Retro-reporter.blogspot.com
Hurray! This is what I do too Vintage Dancer. I think my oldest clothes go back 5 years - everything is modern and I only have 3 repro dresses. I look forward to reading your blog and getting more ideas!
That's exactly the thought I had too! I...
I need some of your ladies' advice for blogging!
I currently have 1 professional, journalism-based blog (www.lauriecallsen.com), 2 blogs that are dead (but I don't want to erase them because I don't want to lose the information) and a Tumblr (www.lauriecallsen.tumblr.com).
I want to try my...
I'm definitely a lurker. I don't know very much about vintage and so I prefer to lurk and keep my mouth shut so I don't embarrass myself and come across a fool. I'm so glad I found the Lounge, it's such a great educational tool!
It looks like Remington makes something similar - hot rag rollers: http://www.amazon.com/Remington-That-Beach-Wave-Rollers/dp/B000Q7CVDQ/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1303351535&sr=1-3-fkmr0
OK I have a whole slough of stuff to show off, so bear with me.
My guy and I bought this Tivoli pot this weekend at Homesense in Edmonton. I love the colour (especially the white inside) and G said it was awesome quality. It was a steal at $14.
Also at Homesense I picked up this cute...
I have never been complimented so much in my life since I started dressing vintage. Sunday my waiter at Ihop told me that I was too pretty to be at Ihop (what does that say about the rest of the customers, I hope they didn't hear him!) and then a cashier told me that she loved my outfit.
So...
