I'm sure your grandparents will be very happy to help with you. My noni taught me to sew 13 years ago. I know spending that time means alot to the both of us. Can't wait to sew what you make!
I intended to send that pattern I promised you Lady Day. I was angry at myself and embarrassed to admit that I stuck one of the crucial pieces in a random pattern envelope and don't know which one it is :( This wouldn't be such an issue except that I have hundreds of patterns. I keep hoping...
You can use it with a Mac. You need some sort of program that makes windows programs run but it should work. I just used it to knock off a vintage pattern that I can't find.
I love www.blogforbettersewing.blogspot.com
Gertie makes beautiful clothes and it's fun reading her vintage/sewing posts.
I too love Casey's blog! I also enjoy Amy Jeanne's and Kamikats blog. Hmm they're all sewing blogs. Coincidence?
Haslam
I have the Haslam system. It involves much more drafting than say the Lutterloh system. It involves the use of a template. I haven't used it yet but there are a lot of beautiful designs.
Drafting in pattern editor
Cailinbeag,
I would love to be that proficient in editor. I bought it for the purpose of duplicating vintage clothing that I can't afford or can't find. Do you have any tips on how you would copy a picture or pattern drawing?
Wild Ginger
That's great Marie Anne. If I were you, I'd do your sloper and try it out asap. I believe you have a 30 day period to try it and you can cancel it if you don't like it. I think it's pretty cool but it's not for everyone. I really need to learn the editing function.
Grading with a sloper
Hi Marie Anne,
I have done what you're describing. The Wild Ginger sloper I mentioned previously has almost 0 ease. I use the sloper by laying the pattern on top of the sloper. I then make horizontal slash in the pattern and slide it down if it is shorter than the...
Men's slacks
I'm sorry Lorena B. I was sure I had some men's slacks patterns. I either gave them away and forgot or they fell into my pattern black hole. If you need men's shirt patterns, I have oodles of those.
Hi Miss 1929. I can't say for sure as I have a PC, but I have a feeling that it is for PC only. Wait, I just did some digging and found this "Macintosh computers running Virtual PC, Parallels, and BootCamp. " I'm not sure exactly where you get these or how they run but it seems like you would...
Wild Ginger
Marie Anne,
I do like the program though I haven't used it as much as I should have. Then again, I have been working with vintage patterns lately. The main program is kind of fun because you can mix and match details. I need to buckle down and work with it more to learn the...
slopers
I cheated, I have the Wild Ginger pattern making program and I used their sloper. Their sloper has just enough ease as to be able to breathe. I'm planning on making Kenneth King's moulage when I get the time/motivation.
I blog erratically. It's feast or famine though. I got my first follower this week! Woo hoo! Basically I just blog about sewing projects.
Amy Jeanne, I "follow" your blog so I won't miss any of your wonderful creations.
I would like to know this as well. The dresses are beautiful but unfortunately WT does not make them in my size. I have a wing bust dress pattern (Vogue S-4300) but it is a different style. I hypothesize that the bra portion and wing portion are attached at the side seams.
missing pieces
If you decide to keep it, contact pattern rescue. They help people find missing pieces. It can't hurt to ask. Also, post a pic of the pattern. Maybe one of us has it in our collections.
Casey that dress is adorable! You mentioned that you drafted it yourself. I've stuck to using patterns so far but I'd like to draft in the future. Do you have any books or resources that you recommend? I'd love to be able to draft as well as you do.
