I actually just made one! (after I made that pattern). I finally got my husband to help me with it. It is pretty awesome though it's taking some getting used to. I'm totally self taught and with a busy little one I probably create more drama than neccessary late at night when I get a minute...
Oh AWESOME. I think this might work for me as well. I'm many of those things too :D I'll definitly give this one a try. Trying to slash and spread it such a tiny amount was giving me a major headache. I was just worried adding just to the side seams would do something weird to the pattern...
Thank you!
Is slashing the best way to grade a pattern. Is there another way? Sorry for my ignorance. Slashing it and spreading it against an existing pattern seems like a good idea, I'll probably try that.
Grading - aka driving myself crazy
On the one vintage pattern I've done so far(size 32 bust M5226) I used the instructions here: http://sensibility.com/tips/how-to-resize-a-pattern/
to grade up one size and then did a FBA. I admit I did the FBA without even measuring since I always have to...
I know a lot has been said since this, but this is what I meant in a way.
Based on looks alone and what we are shown by the media, Dita is "classier" than most. Of course who are we to judge any of these women since really all we are given is what the media wants us to see. And the media...
Thank you! Hair wasn't too hard I guess. I wet set it with velcro rollers since my hair is so short. And then messed with it until it looked halfway decent. :)
Awesome! I hope you like it.
Velvetounge- I love that color and the scallops. Very cute.
Theswingingbee- I've been wanting to make a robe forever. That one's great!
I don't know her personally so I can't comment on that, but wow is she gorgeous.
Plus I love that she's "older" (by Hollywood standards) and she looks better than most of these young actresses these days.
Wow! Thank you guys so much. It makes me feel better about them since my husband thinks they look like granny shorts (but what does he know!).
And I'm sorry I didn't post the pattern, I usually try to since if I see something I love I hope the pattern is posted. It's Simplicity 2654 and I...
So I just went ahead and bought it and I'll answer my own question in case anyone else wants to know. :)
There are only 3 "short" hairstyles in the book. The shortest one being a layered chin length cut. And it also has two styles with short bangs that show how to roll those.
But the book...
Honestly I don't even see a brand listed. I'm assuming it's Walmart brand. It has a yellow label that says Witch Hazel U.S.P. and then it says manufactured by Cumberland Swan. It was super cheap (I wanna say less than a dollar) but seems to do the job.
Thanks ladies for your advice!! :)
See this is what I was afraid of. I knew when making clothing I do a FBA, so I figured there wasn't much hope here, but never hurts to ask. I get so frustrated by RTW clothing.
Palespider, Scarlet Belle - Thank you about the tattoos. :) They really aren't terribly done or anything, it's just one of those things that bug me when I want to dress up.
Lorelai99- Thank you! I love polka dots as well. This was a 5.00/yd rayon from etsy. Etsy takes way too much of my...
Ok so I found a cute button down dress at the thrift store the other day. It needs to be shortened (easy) but it also doesn't fit me around the chest (I'm a 34H so things seldom do), it does however fit in the waist and hips.
It has about a 2 inch gap stopping it from closing up top. Is...
Gracie Lee thanks for the info. I guess I just see Alcohol in something and think bad, bad, bad! Of course it hasn't done anything bad to my skin so far so you're probably right.
