I've been shopping!!!!!! Ok so it was online, but still awesome! First I got two Etiquette books, one from 1938 the other from 1942:
And then I've gotten 7 new sewing patterns:
better pic of what this looks like:
and why I bought that one:
look at that neck line!
That's it for now...
A couple other suggestions I'd like to make, one via my WW leader and one I've found works for me. At every meal you eat there is a point where you sigh, it's just a natural thing, if you stop eating at that point, you'll find that you're satisfied, but not overly full. Keeps me from over...
Kitty, don't get disheartened, you have to remember who you're doing this for, you. I had a friend actually tell me not to lose too much weight because I wouldn't be as fun if I did. This was right when I started WW, it's been a year, and I've fallen off the wagon a little, but I'm back on...
Ok, resurrecting an old thread. I wear false eyelashes everyday and find that I don't have to wear mascara when I do so. I started doing it as a joke as my bf has horrendously long lashes and I told him I was going to put him to shame. I still don't his are still longer, but I love the way...
I go commando only when I'm wearing girdles, too much trouble otherwise. But other than that, I do when I'm at the gym or running, otherwise I get the whole riding up thing going on.
I'm 5'5 which is pretty average but have always felt incredibly short, somehow I've always had tall friends and my family are all huge! I am the shortest in the family by 3 inches. All my Mom's siblings are over 6'. I almost always wear heels or wedgies though, so often that my bf (whom I've...
I just bought the Rago 6209 High Waist panty girdle, I love it except I seem to get this "bubble" of chub between my bra and the girdle. Does anyone else get this? How do you combat this? I'm a chubby girl, but this seems to even everything out except that one spot. I can't buy an all in one...
I have to say the 40's are my favorite, with a little late 30's and early 50's thrown in. I just love the womanly figures in the 40's and the mix of utilitarian with beauty, it's always captivated me.
I love Michael Levine, I wish I lived closer to the garment district, but looks like I'm going to be making a trip up there when I have a 4 day weekend at the end of the month. Oh how I love the garment district!
You gals are evil, evil I say! I think I've spent more money on vintage patterns this week than I have in the past 3 months combined. But thank you for the links, I'm amazed at what I can find in the bigger sizes, though I'm still going to have to do a bit of resizing and muslin making. Can't...
I like being pale, skin cancer runs in my family, so I just stay out of the sun. I wear at least SPF 30 everyday and higher if I'm going to be in the sun a lot. Also, I carry parasols in the summer and wear big hats, my bf thinks I'm crazy for this...
Ok, so it's not vintage, but I finally got a new bra yesterday at Nordstroms, and my boobs were a lot bigger than I realized. But let me tell you I feel gorgeous with my boobs all supported. Now I'm just waiting for my girdle to come from girdlebound.com, can't wait!
Ok one more for today, this was like a week ago, and I was actually taking a pic of the cute hat I got at Urban Outfitters, but I did a weird side pomp thing, it was kind of cute:
First attempt at pin curls
well, I've tried them in the past, but this is the first time my hair has been long enough (ish) to do them in the last couple years. So here goes:
This is how I put it up before bed last night:Link:
Here's how I slept in it:
And here's how I did it...
I just tried the toothbrush exfoliation trick, that is awesome. I tend to get dry lips living in the dryness that is So Cal. Never again! I love this, took off all the dry skin, and made my lips look great!
