Very nice design Jan. I'm definitely sold on the od gaberdine lining and stitching, the lining is elegant.
As a side note of info/opinion: I received my Aero samples. I was set on ordering the dark brown HH 'pull up' for a Bootlegger (based on another member's dk. brown 'pull up' Bootlegger...
Looking forward to seeing the pics too. You say the 42 feels almost like a custom fit on you, can you provide your actual measurements, ie: shoulder-shoulder width and your arm length to wrist bone. That will be helpful in assesing what a 42 actually fits like when we see the pics.
Thanks, Ted
Didn't mean to suggest that you had short arms :) I meant short arms in relative terms as compared to guys with long arms and compared to other motorcycle jackets whose sleeves are usually at least 26 inches. After looking at a number of manufacturers I think Schott sleeves come out shorter than...
I really do like the style of Schott's HH 689. However it seems like Schott jacket sleeves are a tad short. Their cafe jackets seem to be cut for wider, blocky, shorter armed guys as opposed to slender, longer arm body shapes. Which is why I had to go with an Enfield, ...26.5 inch sleeves (or...
Hmmm. Sorry to hear this. I placed a Vanson custom order about a month ago and was told the same thing "2-4 months". Was definitely hoping to have it before next year's riding season. (Crosses fingers.)
Any other Vanson customers who have had to wait longer than 4 months?
It's not good...
Can't seem to find a nice pair with full grain uppers and a flat white crepe sole. Either they're too heavy/industrial (Redwing) or too cheapish (non-welted sole) and/or no flat white sole. The Redwings look like what I want but look a bit too heavy/overbuilt. Can't go the Dr. Marten's.
The...
You should email Gail at Schott and get the exact measurements, then check Sterling's for the best price which is usually quite a bit less (plus if asked they will probably give you a discount as well).
A "size 42" could be all over the map.
Pardon the intrusion but can you tell me what "VLJ" is Hoosier?
Also I have noted some references to "COW" in some posts, I have tried to find this site without success, is it an acronym? and where can I find it?
Cheers, Ted.
My experience with 'off the rack' moto jackets ($150-$275) is extensive; my advice would be to save your money for a decent jacket, you'll end up spending it anyway. A great many of the zippers on all the ones I've had 'bust out' in 1-6 months, after 6 months the seams are opening up everywhere...
Well I went with the zips on the side pockets of the Enfield ala the Model B.
I really do like the look of the leather on your's Peacoat. How do you find the Vanson zipper quality, heavy duty?
I must say that I have been very well treated by Kim, head of Vanson sales, very professional.
Thanks again Peacoat. The leather looks very nice indeed. I like a bit of shine on leather. Really looking forward to receiving mine. I happened to show the picture of your standing Enfield to my buddy, he couldn't believe it. His recent riding jacket was almost as expensive but definitely never...
Jon, I have read that when dying a leather jacket you will achieve best results by arriving at your final colour through successive approximations as opposed to attempting it in one application. From this I imagine the steps starting with tan might be to apply approximations of brown and/or dk...
Yes, I was just about to go for the Aero Ace cafe when I found out about the Sunday special, as I really like the look of the Enfield I couldn't resist. Off the racket model with shipping = $449.00, custom came to approx. $550
Thinking about have zips put in the side pockets.
3-6 month...
Nice cafe jacket, do you use it for motorcycling? I just placed an order for a custom Enfield, Vanson had a sale last Sunday -15% and free shipping. (3-6 months!)
How do you find the "competetion weight" and the leather?
Ted
*Now I only need the black HH Aero "Ace cafe" and their...
I understand that a "size 36" doesn't mean the actual chest circumference of the jacket is 36". Manufacturers add from 2 to 4 inches on top of the so-called "size xx". On conservative jacket designs and suits geared to older men it is 4 inches, for sleeker jacket designs or geared towards...
Hey HighIron, would you care to elaborate a little? I've never handled any veg tan. Seems like there isn't a plethora of information on (or experience with) veg. tan garment leather.
(Not to mention chrome followed by veg. retan and vice versa.)
