    The Adventurer's Gear Thread

I'm sure this might get touched on in other threads, but I also see it as an integral part of the adventurer's wardrobe... do any of you have preferred equipment of a more combative nature? Do any of the bold FL Adventurers have a preferred rifle for instance? I'm sure it really completes the...

I like the look of those... they remind me a lot of the ones in the picture. What sort of boot would one wear with those. Would ammunition boots do?

    Best Cities For Vintage Life?

Too true! It all boils down to what you really want... what makes you happy. That's a rough one... I grew up in California and moved to Washington (or rather moved back after returning home from college) because I thought that this was where I wanted to be... now I'm not so certain. My family is...

Where are the gaiters? Gaiters seem to be a standard. I remember seeing an old photo of my great-grandfather wearing leather gaiters when they were building the Hoover Dam. I've always liked them! Does anyone know of a source for them?

    1930s Israel

Thank you so much for sharing! Those were a really great record of a time now past, and a collection such as this is a time capsule of inestimable value!

    What are you listening to?

Cole Porter, Anything Goes.... 1934 recording with VBince Giordano and The Nighthawks. For some reason Cole Porter is the penultimate representative of the glamourous times for me.

    Best Cities For Vintage Life?

Great questions! Maybe we should consider just what makes a place ideal for the vintage life.

    Just saw Pink Martini

I have to say that Pink Martini has been a fovourite of mine for many years... and China Forbes is indeed a glamour girl! Another favourite of mine is Vagabond Opera... has anyone seen them or at least heard them? Lesley Kernochan sang Milord the last time I saw them perform... with a voice so...

    Best Cities For Vintage Life?

I may be looking to relocate soon and was wondering, on the west coast and in the southwest, which cities are the best choices for retro living?

    1930s vanity for sale-LA

Very tempting.... let me see if I have anyone in Los Angeles who could pick it up for me... no use talking about it if none of them can!

    Ascots

Is an ascot too much? Although I detest the idea of ever doubting a single fashion impulse of my own, I'm asking what I'm sure is a tired old question: Would wearing an ascot (and by ascot I refer to the ascot scarf, or day cravat, worn under the shirt rather than the formal ascot) be too much...

Did you attend a college or university?

University of Puget Sound class of 2000, BA in History (concentration on Asian and pre-soviet Russian history) and MA in teaching 2004... I returned for the MA after a 3 year hiatus. I only did 2 years of undergraduate there, the rest was at Pasadena City College... I was on the seven year plan!

    Chappy Chanukah!

I, for one, cannot abide tubers... bloody suspicious articles if you ask me! I've heard of the mobile menorah parades, but I don't believe we've been so blessed, alas.

Darjeeling and Ceylon are my standbys... but at times I enjoy a good green or jasmine tea as well!
