Hey Johnny,
enjoyed your review, very informative. I once owned a 141 size 44 some years ago but sold it as I found the 25" length a bit too short and overall it just felt a tad small but at the same time I found the sleeves to be a bit baggy. Nevertheless, I loved the jacket style and am...
Well, at least you know what it is. That makes it easier to find one exactly like the one you lost.
Here's another (but also an M)

This one is different but also cool: http://tinyurl.com/5werq8b
I thought the jacket looked familiar. It's not an exact copy but a gentleman on this forum makes a very similar jacket. You'll have to inquire about pricing, not sure if they run cheaper or more expensive than Eastman, but maybe worth looking into it. Maybe he'll even add a bit of piping ...
Wow, what a beaut. I'd almost want to say that the steerhide ages better than horse and ends up with more interesting patina as a result. Horse is so damn tough that it just does not age the same.
Jacket looks great. I have a Cockpit A-2 1987 Reissue that I really like and has become my regular jacket, especially in the spring and cooler summer nights. I really like those pictures of that air show. Where was that? Great looking planes.
Hey Cole, fantastic looking jacket and it fits you really well. I wanted to get one of these a few years ago but Vanson's customer service made ordering very difficult.
You definitely got lucky finding one so easily!
Too true. There's a leather shop very close to where I live that specializes in fetish gear as well as top-quality, heavy-duty motorcycle jackets that would give the likes of Vanson and Langlitz a run for their money -- all hand-made in the neighborhood shop. I would not hesitate for a second in...
The jacket looks fantastic. I've always wanted a Langlitz and actually bought a used one last year from ebay but unfortunately did not fit and had to re-sell it. How does it compare to the Vanson? I imagine the goatskin is probably much lighter and more comfortable?
Thanks for the advice. I haven't ordered any thing from Noble and probably won't at this point.
Sorry to hear about your experience with Vanson. I was really interested in getting a Vanson last year and would have ordered one if they had been more helpful. I found their customer service to...
Fantastic looking jacket. Looks like a German pilot's jacket, very likely since it has a Ritsch zipper. Check out this similar looking Luftwaffe jacket from an old auction -- http://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/ww-ii-black-luftwaffe-flight-jacket-leather
How's the treatment coming along?
I suspect it's not the goats themselves that are the problem but the way the goatskin is treated and processed. Some of the Cockpit issue jackets have that plastic-vinyl look and I'm willing to bet its the way leathers are processed in the US. I had a Gibson & Barnes goatskin once that I was not...
Wow, fantastic Highwayman you have there. Sounds like Butte means the sleeve wrinkling. I think lambskin or Aero horsehide tend to do this more. Maybe if the leather gets wet a lot it would do it more. I had a Wested horsehide Indy jacket once but it didn't tend to wrinkle or distress much. I...
If the quality is superb and you're happy with the jacket then that's great -- enjoy it.
I don't mind buying well-made products from other countries, especially Central and South America, if it's fair price and value.
I've paid top dollar for top U.S. and U.K.-made jackets and I don't mind...
