How to tie a Headscarf retro style.

I love head scarves. How about a "Show us your headscarves" thread? I want to see everybody's pretty scarves and how they wear them! :o

    The Middy Thread

TheSacredFemme: I was hunting for good brushes for a while, when I stumbled across a set of boar bristle brushes in T K Maxx for a great price. I see you're in England too, so it might be worth a look there. :) They've made styling a lot easier for me (previously I've only used plastic brushes)...

    Cute Vintage-y Shoes

Thank you for sharing, Swinggal! Some of those shoes are absolutely beautiful. Has anybody had a pair from Miss L Fire? Do they wear well? I'm always disappointed by how quickly shoe heels wear down for me. :(

    Besame cosmetics

I just came to share the exact same thing as you, Fortworthgal. :) If only they shipped to the UK - I paid £35 for my Red Velvet set. $20 is such a steal!

    High Waisted Pants & Jeans!

I'm really interested in Heyday's 1940s Swing Trousers. Has anybody tried a pair? If so, I'd really like to know what you think of them. :) I haven't worn trousers for years, but I've lusted after these for so long I think I might just go for it. They're so pretty.

    Dita Von Teese

Dita is selling one of her cars and the listing includes a few photos of Dita in trousers. I've only seen a few photos of her in trousers and am always curious to see more - thought I'd share it here. :)

Hello! that's my very first post to this wonderful forum! I need your help! ++

Perhaps it would be useful to look at the famous ladies of the 30s for makeup inspiration. For example, Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich and the lovely Jean Harlow. Bette Davis and Mae West, too! You'll notice their makeup style is quite similar. Taking the time to browse the Lounge will unearth a...

    Washing rayon?

Miss Sis: I'd love nothing more than to give it a thorough clean with water, but I really don't want to risk it with rayon crepe, as I've heard an awful lot of horror stories and have only ever washed plain rayon. Annixter: Thank you very much - I would never have thought of something like...

The Great Gatsby - Remake in the Works

I'm very hopeful about this! I loved the book, and I also loved Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet. I haven't seen any productions of The Great Gatsby, this will be my first and I'm very much looking forward to it. I thought the trailer was stunning - though I was a little bit disappointed about the...

    Washing rayon?

Does anybody have any advice on getting the "old" smell out of rayon crepe? I haven't taken it to the dry cleaners yet, but I have a feeling the smell will remain. I've been airing it as often as possible, too.

As if we didn't chat about pin curls enough. . .

Frenchy, that sounds perfect! Can we see? :) Pin curls are so much more comfortable than sponge rollers, I'm glad they turned out well for you!

Can you help me date this item??

Thank you so much Miss Tuppence (I love your blog!) and Roadier. :) Just a few little repairs to do and I think we'll be inseparable!

Can you help me date this item??

I just bought a dress coat and would love to know the era. Sorry for the poor photos, I tried my best. [huh] The outer is made of rayon crepe (I think) and appears handmade. The buttons are fabric covered metal. No labels, the tag is just an old dry cleaning label. :)...

    Sculpture Pin Curler

I'm really interested in this! At the moment I try my best with fingers, and end up trying to use mascara tubes etc. The sculpture pin curler sounds like it would make things so much easier and quicker! However, it's quite expensive for what it is (+ intl shipping) so I'm very reluctant about...

Lace it up - The true Corset thread

I'm very interested in waist training (and improving my posture!), and would like to know if I should go for any particular type of corset? I have never worn one before. I'm willing to save up for a decent corset, I currently have my eyes on Morticia by What Katie Did. Any suggestions (that I...
